They have like....30M in cap and haven't done anything!

Are they just gonna bomb out and become the next bus-stop for Tavares in the next draft?

  1. nobody wants to play for a poor team.

  2. Definitely not, they still have Kovalchuck and they recently drafted Bognosian (no clue how to spell it).

  3. No one wants to play there.... they get the guys in a few weeks that are left over and worried about finding a team!

They have 12 forwards and 5 Dmen (Bogosian would make 6) and a goalie and will get Lehtonen all under contract... I think they may be going with youth, to build a culture that guys will want to come and play for! Might be the smart way to go.

  4. Nah, i don't feel bad for the Thrashers at all and I have to hand it to them for being aggressive.  They offered Brian Campbell MORE money than Chicago did but location was the deciding factor.  They also seem to be headed in the right direction as far as management is concerned.

    -resigned Hedberg (great move)

    -hired John Anderson as coach

    -drafted Zach Bogosian

Their 2 biggest needs are obvious.  Upgrade the blueline and find a true #1 center for Ilya Kovalchuk who is finally coming into his own.  With the big boys of Redden and Campbell gone, it may be time for Atlanta to hurry up and secure middle tier dmen in Hainsey or Orpik.  As for center, Sundin is still out there OR they can go the way of trade.  They have some nice prospects down in the farm as bait or ready to make the jump to the NHL.  Nevertheless, a line with Tavares and Kovalchuk is awfully tempting!

  5. I feel bad for the Thrashers. It's not their fault that their ownership, Atlanta Spirit, are useless. They are the same people that own the Hawks in the NBA. It seems like they don't want any winning franchises!

  6. I agree with NIPS in that nobody wants to play there. Money is important, but the team has to have a chance to win. They have no chance at winning.

I like that they got John Anderson, he is a very good coach, but I feel bad for him. I was hoping he would have gone to a team that has some talent like San Jose.

  7. I dont feel bad the GM does not want to sign anybody thats his problem. There are definatly people out there who are in it for the money that they could sign. Even some who aren't in it that would go to the Thrashers, none that i know of. But glad they let Holik go because he should do good back here with the Devils. Can't wait to see him play. The stilll have Kovalyk (spelling) and that other guy who begins with a B i have no idea who he is he is pretty good.

  8. this coming from probably the only thrasher fan in here, its a sad day in thrasher country. They need to get a solid center to play with Kovalchuk.

If they do not get a center and become a contender anytime soon, i can see Kovalchuk wanting out of Atlanta. I thought Redden or Campbell was coming but i dont know anymore who they will go after. A must has to be a center for Kovalchuk though.

players hoping to be in Atlanta:

    Todd Bertuzzi

    Kristian Huselius

    Sean Avery

    Martin Straka

    Jason Smith

    Brenden Morrison

    Markus Naslund

i personally say they sign Ray Emery, and trade away Lethonen for a center and a D-man.

    Total current Salary: 25.269 million

Total cap space left: 31.431 million

    Minimum salary cap: 40.710 million

    * we got some work to do*

  9. First they lose Hossa, now Holik their captain.  Haha.  We got Holik back!
