  1. aww

  2. that'll be me tommorrow and i will probably be the only mother skipping back from the school singing. 6 weeks is far too long, they get bored, the weather is shite, they miss their friends and they fall behind on their education. i think its about time they changed the school holidays oh but then our poor headmaster will have to cut short his cruise around the med in his yatch... what a bloody shame that will be. x

  3. today is labor day there will be no classes.

  4. Awwwwwwww!!!

45 and 1/2 hours to go.  Not that I'm counting ;)

  5. You.Must.Be.Bloody.Joking.

    That's a no from me then ;-)

Did cry when daughter put her secondary uniform on. She just scowled and said 'it's mingin'.....'

School.6 hours free childcare.Feckin marvellous, god bless all the teachers everywhere.

EDIT-Chipmunk- Aww...good luck for Friday, that's a biggie. My stomach lurches at the memory of my two starting reception. They weren't bothered, just me :-(

  6. my son isn't back at school until the 8th september !!!

  7. In Scotland they went back 3 weeks ago and no one felt sorrow, they were glad to get them back.

  8. Mine went back last week, & yes, I did feel just a little pang, lol, they grow up so quick....

  9. it's tomorrow for ours. And yes I'm a bit sad. They're looking forward to going back tho. I'll be over it by 9.05am! lol

  10. Yes, hated that first day the most all alone, with a quiet & tidy house.

when my kids went ( back ) to school, it was me that cried.

off they went with a skip & smile.

    me, I balled!

    sad huh?

all grown up now & flown the nest.

    ;-)

  11. Absolutely not - I was delighted to see today, in fact I could hardly sleep with the excitement last night!!!

Honestly, the  holidays are too long and we all get on each other's nerves - mine are now p7 and p6 and they need the structure and friendships which school provides.  I realised a long time ago, my children don't need me as much as I need them.

Yours must be small, but wait till they get bigger!!

Sorry you felt this way, and I hope you get something to fill the gap!!

    take care

    L

  12. not back while tomorrow, and will be crying tears of feckin joy????????

  13. don't tell fibs you enjoyed it now go and celebrate>

  14. The tiny one's nursery only takes a two week break so she's been back at nursery since we got home from our holiday, the boy decided to stay at his mother's last night and doesn't start back at school 'til tomorrow anyway.

Will I feel sad waving him off?  No, not really, more concerned that he needs to buck up his ideas or he's going to fail his GCSEs!!

  15. I am not a father yet, but I do remember my mom used to say Christmas wasn't the happiest day of the year, it was the day after Labor Day. She had to endure all 4 of us throughout the summer..... bless her, no clue how she did it! ☺

  16. not bak at school til the 9th september.

  17. My daughter doesn't go back till Wednesday and my little boy goes on Friday. I'll be especially sad when he goes back as he'll be starting Reception so it's his first year of full time school.

  18. Mine doesn't go back until wednesday. For 6 weeks ive complained about the mess, noise, kids programmes, hassle with working, finding childcare, too much food being eaten, too much money being spent but on wednesday i'll miss all of those things :-(

  19. This question takes me right back to when my eldest started school.

I, not knowing the correct entrance for the Infant dept. took him in the wrong door.  It was the junior's entrance and there were about 8 'big' boys in a scrum on the cloakroom floor.  I can still see his little face, scared him to death!!!

He settled down though and it's a far distant memory now. : -- )

Tomorrow, (Tuesday) his son is starting a new school and I will probably be more nervous than anyone..........and a little sad  too,   Grandmas are like that!!!

  20. My oldest doesn't start school until next Wednesday and this will be her first "big" school.

I reckon I'll be the one crying!!!!
