  4. s**y Paul, the Romans didnt get that far - hence Hadrians Wall! They didnt come into Scotland.

    Locals first built on the rock of what is an extinct volcano about 900 BC because of it's great position high above the countryside (except Arthur's Seat) and on a solid rock. It was a poisition which could be defended easier than anywhere around.

    There have been people living there ever since, including Queen Margaret (St. Margaret). (She died in 1093).
