Leeuwenhoek, Antoni van (1632-1723), Dutch maker of microscopes, who made pioneering discoveries concerning protozoa, red blood cells, capillary systems, and the life cycles of insects.

the founder of the microscope is Antoine Van Leeunwenhoewk (1632- 1732) in 1600s, and started the discovery of cell, bacteria, protozoa, nematodes and many other microscopic organisms. Leeuwenhoek is known to have made over 500 microscopes (equivalent to a powerful magnifying glass) through his lifetime.
