  1. No one founded Italy. There were primitive peoples in all the country, the most important was the Ligurian one (in quiet all the North) and many other regional peoples in the rest of the territory. The first historic result was the landing of Aeneas, between the coasts of Naples and Rome, that they didn't exist yet. After there was the foundation of Rome by Romulus and his brother Remus. In those times Etruscans and Celts and Gals were peoples strong and formed yet, overall in the North and Centre. In the south, especially Sicily and Calabria were Greek colonies, so we now name them culture of 'Magna Grecia' still. After foundation of Rome the story is known, by its expansion in quiet all Europe, North Africa, and the Near Orient.

  2. According to legend, Rome was founded in 753 BC by Romulus and Remus, and was then governed by seven Kings of Rome. In the following centuries, Rome started expanding its territory, defeating its neighbours (Veium, the other Latins, the Sannites) one after the other.
