Who gets assigned the unmarked cop cars?

Question

I was wondering if you get to pick your vehicle or which department or police gets to use the unmarked vehicles./?

The agency I work for assigns your take home squad.  Patrol gets the fully marked, K9 gets Expeditions, Gang/Drug/Traffic gets unmarked and supervisors get Impalas.

We have spare cars in marked and unmarked that can be used by anyone in my agency.

Usually the unmarked cop cars get assigned to the unmarked cops (Detectives)

The agencys assigns you a car and you share wirh 2 or 3 other officers. And the unmarked ones are for gang taks force and sometimes undercover

It depends on the agency. Marked cars are given out to officers by seniority. In my city, the ventran officers get the cool cars (the new chargers) while the new officers get stuck in the old vics or the wagons. Unmarked units are given out for vice or UC work, or used by detectives.
