  1. completely speculative question.

what kind of engineer vs. what kind of doctor?

civil engineer, computer engineer, industrian, manufacturing... vs a plastic surgeon, an ENT an internist, pathologist.....

just depends and depends on whether they work for someone or have their own biz, and if they have their own.... how busy they are... what projects they secure....

again.... highly speculative and not specific enough... sorry

  2. The doctor will make more to start off, but the engineer will eventually catch up.

  3. Bear in mind that malpractice insurance for doctors is very expensive ($20k/year is not unusual).  That's why dentists often take home more than doctors.

Also, consider lifestyle.  Doctors can be on call at  nights and over weekends, something engineers seldom are.

  4. J.D. is right!

a family practice physician will make the lowest average of $150k.

a surgeon will make anywhere from $350k to $750k / year.

the ceiling for most engineers unless they own their own business or are V.P. / President / CEO is $150k

.. but you should realize that becoming a surgeon is very difficult and competitive and takes a much longer commitment.

  5. If you go through month wise a doctor earns more i.e around 12k compared to engineer 10k but when u compare per hour its the engineer gets more as he works 8-10 hrs per day and doctors works more than 16 hrs per day

  6. An engineer  can earn higher  money than doctor .

Actually this is based on the capabilities of the professionals.

Generally a difference between   both is around 10-20k.

  7. An engineer earning $120k per year makes more than a doctor earning $100k per year.

  8. It depends on a number of things, including what kind of doctor/engineer, location, and so on.  Salary.com is a good resource.  So is ww.bls.gov.

I would recommend these two links from the BLS.

    http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos074.htm#earni...

    http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos027.htm

  9. Engineers. The difference depends on a lot of factors. Some experienced design engineers can even make 150 - 200 K. Go figure

  10. engineer

  11. Check out salary.com

You just put in a job title and put in your zip code and the site tells you the average salary in your area for the professions you choose.

    It's pretty cool.
