  1. Snap - I have the tastiest beans and potatoes and my little bumpy curved cucumbers and ridges tomatoes are so full of flavour.  Awaiting my first crop of peppers too.  Problem is, I only have these at this time of year and havent space to start growing swedes or broccoli.  I try and go to farmers markets instead to get seasonal fruit and veg - rather than stuff that has been wrapped in plastic, shipped all over the world and kept in storage for heaven only knows how long !

  2. Those guys just don't have enough meaningful things to do! We always grow what we can, and buy the rest from fruit & veg markets that grow their own produce.I don't like the supermarket plastic wrapped ones either. They are seldom fresh & expensive to boot.

  3. I keep getting cucumbers with spikes!  I don't mind the tortuous shapes - I DO mind that I end up having to de-spike them first!

  4. At long last the EEC has woken up,

  5. The EU standards on agriculture are just a means to control power and to prevent small farmers from profitting.  Their standards and fees have bankrupted many famers in France, Spain, Italy...what a waste.

Standards should be based soley on health, not looks.  At this rate  the EU will destroy more and more farmers.

  6. Ho, I do like a bent q cumber, there's something about the bend that makes it taste a lot better than the straight one

  7. i enjoy growing my own veg (done it for 40 years), there's something very satisfying in feeding your family and supplying everyone else with something grown from seed, the taste is far superior to anything you get at the supermarket and you know there's no pesticides / herbicides (not on mine anyway) to poison those you love, as for the EU well not many gardeners take any notice of them anyway (to busy watering our cucumbers!) but at long last they are starting to wake up, i like my misshapen and bendy veg its got character and taste! lol
