Who had a better skill level, Wilfred Benitez, or Wilfredo Gomez?

both were great but i would say benitez.benitez wasnt a ko artist like gomez but had the skill to be a good fight for any the greats. if they were the same weight i dont think gomez would able to catch benitez ,benitez would outbox him.

I would go with Gomez just about, Benitez had high skill levels also and is obviously a great as well but for me Gomez was just a class above, we were robbed of one of the greatest fights of all time when Salvador Sanchez lost his life and we didnt get the rematch. Gomez had heavy hands and usually stopped his opponents but people who have watched him know what a talented boxer skill wise he was, Benitez maybe had slightly better defensive skills which we could see to good effect in his fight against Leonard but i still say that skill wise overall Gomez takes it.

Gomaz had power in both hands and longer reach...Benitez was more of a athlete...I would say Gomez

Can't argue with Frank's answer.  Gomez had great power, Benitez had great defense.  Weight being the same if they actually fought Gomez wins by late TKO in 14 rounds
