  1. everyone... no one is perfect

  2. I have visuospatial dyslexia and went to and graduated from the University of Delaware.  My reading level at that time was 3rd grade.

    I have dyspraxia too.

Actually the inventor of the lightbulb was

Nikola Tesla, Edison stole the idea and patented it first.  Tesla came up with the idea of the alternate current which is used today.  Edison fired Tesla and stole the idea.  However Tesla fits criteria for LD, being asperger's.  there are tons of sites that attribute to this.

  3. I just graduated with a B.A. in Psychology from a state school. I have ADD, processing speed and auditory processing deficits. The next school I'm attending this fall is a private professional school which offers an APA approved doctoral program (Psy.D) in clinical psychology. I hope to help children who have learning disabilities.

School has been difficult at times but the accommodations I received helped me graduate with a B+ average.

  4. I have ADD, Dyspraxia, Dyslexia, a Learning Disability and I have my Master's in Education. Just because I have a disability doesn't make me stupid, it just makes it so I learn differently.

I work in the MR/DD field and there's something we have hanging up in my office:

If People with Learning Disabilities (LD) never tried to succeed...

It would be hard to imagine..John Lennon of the BEatles would never have written the song "Imagine". We also would not be able to enjoy listening to sympohonies by Mozart, Beethoven or Stevie Wonder, of these musicians were "LD"

...or to find leadership...President George W. Bush is "LD"

The world would be less bright....We would not have the electric light bulb: Thomas Edison, the inventor of the light bulb was "LD"

...and not nearly as much fun...Walt Disney, the creator of Mickey Mouse and Disneyland was "LD"

No one would know what it was like in the future...Jules Verne, French Author, never would have given us 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, a book that introduced Science Fiction to the world and inspired scientists for generations. Jules Verne was "LD"

No one would have visited the "House of Ruth" or seen "Charlie Hustle"....Babe Ruth and Pete Rose never would have played baseball. Both were "LD"

Or be like Mike...Michael Jordan never would have played Basketball

There would be no "Color Purple"...Danny Glover and Whoopi Goldbery, the stars of the movie "The Color Purple" are both "LD"

There might be total darkness... The allied forces, under the direction of Wiston Churchill, a man with "LD" would not have led the forces that defeated Adolph Hitler, nad the n***s in World War II

....And no hope at all....If not for the determination of one man leading his nation into the future, Abraham Lincoln, who was Learning Disabled, never would have led the Union Army to victory in the Civil War, ending slavery.

To all the people here, "L" and "D" were just two more letters in the alphabet. Don't let two letters hold you back.

Just to show you that people can overcome the obstacles in their life and go farther than imagined.

  5. ME! I have Myalgic Encephalopathy and I managed school and college. I left uni the first time but now study Open Uni because its better for me!

My symptoms in terms of education were:

-I was always fatigued and tired so hour lectures could be difficult.

-I was often ill with colds, flu's etc and so missed school.

-Difficulty with muscle pains made writing difficult, holding neck up to look at screens was also hard!

and other symptoms too but I made it :)

  6. Many people do.  I went to a college with 20,000 students with a "Office of Disability Accommodation".  Before I left, I found out that many of my friends had disability accommodations.  Things like taking a test in a quiet room by them self (because they'd freak out or get distracted easily), allowing more test taking time, having someone help them read the test (sight issues, problems with comprehending things they read), someone taking notes for them in class (sight problems, broken arms, etc)..
