Heath was a much darker more realistic joker.

Jack was more of a theatrical joker.

Same thing with the directors

Christopher Nolan gave a much darker and realistic production of Batman

Tim Burton gave a more theatrical version with a cartoony feel.

I liked Heath more though. Much more believable.

i think  Heath Ledger played "the joker" the best...he got really into character of the villan.

Definitely Heath.

He played the role so good in Dark Knight.

For some reason, although he was killing, there was a sense of humor in it, as if I were seeing it in his view. Kind of freaky.

I would say Jack Nicholson. He was funny and yet killed people without remorse.  He depicted the Joker the best.

Although all the other previous Jokers were good and were villains who had the right personality to fight the low-tech batmen (Adam West etc). But now that batman has changed his gadgets, car, fighting style (loooads more violence), Joker and all the other villains must change too to complement the new batman. Heath Ledger has created the perfect Joker to go with Christian Bale's batman.

Jack Nicholson was the best Joker but Heath Ledger did an excellent job playing the Joker
