I think it was Flair. The personality his gimmick brought to the table opened the doors for so many other gimmicks.

  1. It was very obviously Hogan while Flair was a better wrestler and one of the best all time, Hogan was the guy leading the charge in both of wrestling's heydays( 80's and late 90's with the NWO)

  2. Neither. Steve Austin began the Attitude Era. The Era which slightly persists until today.

  3. hogan sadly..he was very overated...fans used to go crazy for him

  4. Hogan helped to bring professional wrestling into mainstream society. In the interim, however, Ric Flair, was always the better technician. If either one of the them is remembered for being a wrestler as much as a showman, it is Ric Flair. Hulk Hogan is known more for selling, and not for his arsenal of moves.

Ric Flair is better than Hulk Hogan.

  5. 16 time world champion

Mentor to the likes of Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Batista, Randy Orton, need I go on?

Inspiration to the likes of The Hardy Boys, one of the greatest tag teams ever (being their hometown hero)

    Definitely Ric Flair.

  6. Hogan really brought wrestling mainstream, with cartoons, comic books, vitamins and especially movies... Ric Flair was by far the better wrestler in every sense of the word... He made a better heel then Hogan a face... he was drawing 10,000 a night for the NWA when the NWA wasn't even on T.V anymore... Ric Flair was the better wrestler but Hulk Hogan had a larger impact on the business as a whole...

  7. Gonna have to go with HOGAN on this one. He really rocked it and fans loved him!

  8. Unfortunately it was The Luster Hulk Hogan...

  9. Hulk Hogan

Wrestling was a cult following before Hulkamania. Hogan made wrestling mainstream & Hollywood & Cool. Flair didn't make the WWF or WCW Hogan made both don't get me wrong Flair is one of the greatest wrestlers ever but his gimmick & his nickname was Buddy Rogers wrestling would be nothing like it's today without Hulk Hogan

  10. FLAIR HANDS-DOWN!!! Memories of him are everywhere. Especially the "Whoo" chant when someone gets chopped, they even do that in TNA!!! And his little strut is still done every now and again. And I don't think anybody cried when Hogan retired, and I don't think it was as big of a deal as when Ric retired.

  11. Ric Flair.

  12. Hogan had the greater impact.  He was the first guy to figure out that actual wrestling knowledge, and ability, was NOT the easiest way to make $$$ in the business.  He took steroids, he got huge, Vince loved him, the people loved him, and he got filfthy rich.  Flair took the tougher path; he learned every hold in the book, then he added a few.  He learned how to pace a match, how to be a heel, how to be a face, he learned the psychology involved in working a crowd.  The truly sad fact of all this is that it's simply EASIER to be like Hogan, than to be like Flair.......and you will make MORE money if you're like Hogan, to boot.  What would you choose??
