  1. I don't know if you could say that one had more than the other.  They both have may great strides in making America the great, equal, and diverse country that it is today.  They were both outstanding athletes, but more importantly, had more of a positive impact off the playing field than their actions on it.

  2. Though Jackie Robinson was at the racial forefront, much earlier than Ali, he still kept African-Americans in the role of the athlete. Ali transcended that by becoming a political and religious activist, and being actively involved with political leaders and their affairs. Famously anti-Vietnam conflict, etc. etc. He was also a black man with a lot of confidence, and little regret--a character we hadn't formerly seen a lot of in the limelight.

  3. I an sorry but Jo S is an Idiot....that being said I think Ali had a bigger impact than Jackie Robinson...people need to realize that Jackie Robinson did not just watlz in and become the first black player, he was simply the first black player ALLOWED to play in the majors by the Baseball Commission,it wasn't simply by virtue of his goodness that this happened.....Ali on the other hand created his legend with little help from anybody, at first he was just a brash young boxer who made fun of Sonny Liston and claimed he was the greatest (even though at the time he was still young) he beat Liston twice and began one of the most exciting reigns as heavy weight champion inspiring millions of African Americans with his attitude and bravado....he was stripped of his title when he refused to fight a war that he deemed unfair and won the hearts of millions of Americans, white and black as well as people around the world, he came back from a long lay off and won his title back after going against all odds and defeating George foreman....who is one of the greatest boxers we have ever had, Ali's exploits and courage have inspired countless people and continue to do so today, Robinson was important to Baseball and helped ease the tensions but Ali was a revolutionary athlete who transcended the sport of boxing, for many he represented defiance in the face of injustice, a beacon of hope,a man willing to go against  an entire government to defend his beliefs....I love Jackie Robinson, but in this case I gotta give it to Ali.

  4. with all the respect to Jackie Robinson, Muhammad Ali had and still having (definitely will be having) huge impact on the society!!!

The Greatest was in forefront of all main movements of that era which still having impact on our society!

  5. They Both Did A Reeeeal Gooooooood Job.   Nip It Nip It In The Bud

  6. Robinson. Ali had a very negative impact. He showed that you can be a coward draft dodger and get away with it. Ali couldn't hold Robinson's jockstrap, and robinson couldn't hold Joe Louis' jock strap.

  7. Man, that is a tough one, I have to give the nod to Jackie Robinson, Jackie integrated MBL, which over all is a lot bigger than boxing.  Ali was huge as well, and his exploits and legal battles outside the ring transcend boxing, but Jackie in his quite dignity surpassed the brash Ali and touched more people.  Great question, Ali clearly impacted more on the world stage, but Jackie Robinson changed American Society for the better more so than Ali did.

  8. For better or worse, I think Ali had a greater impact.  Though he came after jackie, he was in the thick of the civil rights movement.  Ali was a much more divisive and controversial figure than Jackie, but he had a greater impact.

What Jackie did, breaking the color barrier, is the greatest feat in all of sports.  Not Brett Favre's streak of games started, not Cal Ripkin's streak of the same, nor BBonds home run record, or anything MJordan ever did- all of those come up short compared to what Jackie Robinson did.

However, Ali's overall impact on the American Society was greater- and perhaps only because of the era in which Ali enjoyed his stardom.  Also, he impacted many more facets of society than Jackie did.

    Jackie greater impact on sports.

    Ali greater impact on society

  9. I do Not Agree With Myself On This One

They both Did A Good Job

  10. Muhammad Ali, because I have not heard of Jackie Robinson.
