I dont care about their next opponent, nor who else they could fight, nor if theyre the real deal or not...These are by all appearances the best two fighters on the planet. I dont care if you like them or not...I just wanna know...

Which was more impressive...

Anderson Silva's destruction of James Irvin

or

Fedor's maiming of Tim Sylvia

I personally believe, though fedor looked overpowering in his striking...the fact that anderson caught a fast and LOW leg kick and in one fell swoop and one continuous motion delivered a devastating right hand to the cheek/chin area was way more impressive...if not unprecidented...Has anyone ever seen the leg kick caught followed up by a straight jab that knocks the guy out? if you have let me know...

So, what does everyone think? Whos 1st round destruction was more impressive.

Fedor or Anderson?

  1. I think Fedor's was more impressive just for two reasons. One: It was Tim Sylvia and Two: It's hard to choke some one out in 36 seconds. Don't get me wrong. Anderson's was darn impressive too, and bad ***. But Fedor's surprised me more.

  2. James Irvin's natural weight is probably around 225-230. Every fighter cuts weight. So saying A.Silva was the same size of Irvin is a joke. A.Silva displayed great precision by punching between Irvin's defenses.

On the other hand I saw Tim Silva drop his hands against Fedor, and ended up eating punches. Remember, Tim Silva doesn't have the best ground game... Frank Mir v Tim Silva need I say more? It was a bad match up for Tim. In fact anyone with a good ground game and a good way to get the fight to the ground is a bad match up for Tim Silva. Tim's a joke thats why  Dana wasn't interested in resigning him - he never thought of pursuing a new contract.

Why is everyone hating on Irvin... he was very game for that fight. He was in great shape. Sure he's not a top LHW but who can blame him since the LHW is flooded with talent - Shogun, Griffin, Rampage, Lidell, W.Silva, Machida, Evens ect.

Bottom line though - First hit K.O. > than a one sided fight ending in a choke.

In order for Fedor to impress me more, he should have knocked out Tim Silva. But to Fedor's defense, why stand and take the risk of getting knocked out? He did what I would have done - taken Tim down and make him submit.

  3. Yeah Silva won with style! But  I still think Fedor was more impressive because of who the opponent was. Silvia is so big and strong that he usually can set the pace against most fighters... Plus he was and probably still is a top 10 heavy weight... while Irvin probably does not make a top 25 list of the best lightheavy weights.

  4. Silva's was nice but not as impressive.  Fedor really showed his power in this fight the shots he hit Tim with were knocking him everywhere he has really improved on his power over the years.

Only three people in Tims career have even knocked him down and none in the fashion that Fedor did and also none have "walked" through Tim like Fedor did either so the fact really is Fedor has done something that nobody else has ever been capable of complete and total domination of Tim in a quick fashion.  How can some say he is in a downward spiral he has only lost to the top three heavyweight in the world thats not a downward spiral at all.

The knockout Silva had on Irvin was not a one punch knockout it took severval punches because Irvin started to get up and Silva hit him again, why would Fedor have to knock Tim out for you to impress you over Silva's knockout?  This could boil down to quite a few things, That Tim has a better chin this Irvin(Tim has never been knocked out ever) Tim has better defense which he showed because he didn't just turtle up on his back like Irvin did he did exactly what your supposed to do if you are rocked on knees, tuck you chin tuck your elbows to your side and the side of your head till you can get your composer and soften the strike to major areas.  Its a credit to Fedor to know to stop striking and to take the back and the submission and thats what makes him a smarter fighter then Silva he is a fast thinker in the ring and notice openings as soon as they happen.

  5. All I have to say is 36 seconds!!!!!   :)

  6. Fedor of course. Listen even Irvin said all he had was a punchers chance to beat Anderson. He was fed to Anderson Silva no one really thought he would win anyways.

With Tim people really thought he could give Fedor trouble standing up and use his long reach over Fedor and maybe knock Fedor out. But fedor without a doubt again proves why he is the best P4P fighter in the world. He came out after not fighting a top ten guy in almost 3 years to demolishing a 2 time UFC HW champ in 36 seconds. To me that is way more impressive than what Anderson did against a guy that isn't even considered top 20 of his weight class. Plus Anderson's natural weight is 205 he just fights at 185.

  7. Anderson Silva was flawless in his knockout of a very strong opponent.  Fedor took out a Tim Sylvia who has been less than impressive as of late.  Tim has been in a downward spiral for a while if you ask me, so knocking him out doesnt impress me very much.

Anderson Silva is definitely the best pound for pound fighter, and I can't wait to see some more of his destruction.

  8. A 36 second rear naked choke on a guy who has a sub par ground game and a turtle like defense. If I paid 45 dollars for that fight and saw Tim turtle up like he did in under 30 seconds I'd be effin pissed.  Personally I dont see whats so great about a RNC victory. People arent going to want to pay to see a guy look for quick submissions at the beginning of the first round every fight. Whats more impressive a KO or a RNC for me its the KO, and especially Silva's KO of Irvine, Irvine looked like he was going to tap after that devastating right after silva caught his foot.
