  1. norton was tough and could hit good(he broke Ali's jaw),but AM was a technician in the ring . KN was big and that helped him with his D. AM had less size to work w/ and had to be craftier. If they fought at the same weight ,i'd take AM.

  2. while moore had the better defence, norton would win if they met, probably  by stoppage in the mid to late rounds.

but if they were both the same natural weight, then moore would outpoint norton.

  3. Moore might have been the craftiest fighter ever. I like to refer to Norton's style as crab style instead of peek-a-boo. I think Moore KO's Norton in the late rounds. Norton wasn't known for a good beard.

  4. Moore on both questions.

  5. Moore was craftier and tougher, by necessity. The bigger Norton was more talented but not as good taking punches.

    Toss up.

  6. Archie was the MAN.  His peek-a-boo was the genius combination of offense and defense. . . he has THREE TIMES more knockouts than most fighters have fights, and would have boxed circles around Norton.

  7. They both used the "crab-style" defense and it worked great for both men.  That style of defense helped Norton to beat Muhammad Ali, and in my eyes, he won two out of their three fights, but was robbed in the third.  And Moore was just an excellent fighter with really good defense well into his late 40s.  I believe that pound for pound, Archie Moore is a better fighter than Ken Norton, but if they had ever fought, it would have been at heavyweight, and I would have to favor Ken Norton by a mid to late round stoppage because he was bigger and stronger than Archie at that weight (Archie was best as a light heavyweight).

  8. Good question sir.  Both had an excellent peek a boo style defense but Archie was the innovator of the style and an overall better fighter than Norton.  Norton had a suspect chin mostly against sluggers such as Shavers and Foreman but fought three great fights with Ali and arguably won at least two of them with one possibly a draw in my opinion.  Moore was kind of an timeless and ageless fighter.  His prime seemed to be in his late 30's and early to mid 40's.  He gave Marciano a really good fight and even put him on the canvas for a brief count.  Norton has a decided size advantage here and also a reach advantage.  This would have still however been a great fight because Moore had a lot of skill, heart, and stamina.  I believe the jabs of Norton would have made a difference as the fight wore on.  I believe this would have been an even fight but that the jabs of Norton would have closed Moore's eyes and forced the referee to halt the contest with about 1 minute left in the 13th round of a good fight.
