I think you can believe in God at the same that you explore this.  Just close your eyes & ask God to put a white light of protection around you before you sit down to read about it or think about it.  I believe that in the old days, God helped women to be healers.  Doesn't matter if God is a father or a mother because there is only one God...perhaps many aspects of the same God in the legends, but still, it's all one God.
