Question:

Who has been keeping their eye on Scott Speed?

He seems to be adapting to stock car racing quicker than most open wheel drivers. Maybe just because he is in the lower levels, and they did not throw him straight into a cup ride. But everytime I see him race, he impresses me a little more.

Congrats to Scott on the Truck win.

  1. He really looks like he is picking up everything real fast. He was awesome in the truck race and I am sure you are right about breaking him in on the lower levels . He will probably get everything down a lot better starting off at he bottom.

  2. I've followed him since day one out here at some of the calif tracks, the dude can drive its to bad the equipment he had in F1 sucked so bad. He said he wanted to come up through the ranks, ARCA, Trucks, and Nationwide, he young enough and has plenty of time. I was even cheering for him last night in the truck race, even if I am a die hard Hornaday fan...Congrats Scott, I'm sure theres gonna be more..One thing for sure, most of us that know him, he can be another Rowdy Busch, the dude has some spunk, and some arrogance about him, yes he is a really nice guy, he could be the next Wild Thang to hit Sprint Cup someday..

  3. Scott is a smart and humble driver.  He likes to have fun behind the wheel.  I've been watching F1 as long as NASCAR and his Red Bull F1 team was horrible.  Not necessarily the equipment as the announcers mentioned last night but the organization as a whole was pitiful.. He had brief moments of fame finishing inside the top ten which is an accomplishment in F1 with the Ferrari, Mclaren dominance.  He'll do fine. Both him and Almendinger are improving quickly.

  4. i had heard a couple of commentators sound all excited about him coming to the truck series, so i've listened for his name here and there.  but to be honest, i'm usually watching to see what rowdy is doing - whether he's in the lead or 18 laps down but still racing with the leaders... i heard them say tonight that speed hadn't done all that well in F1, but that he was always stuck in fairly weak equipment there.

he, and his crew chief, however, were impressive last night. the two-tire call was gutsy, and right on the money.  as impressive is the fact that the truck series has produced three first time winners in a row - and two of those came in races where it looked like rowdy was going to run away with it all.

great series.  great races.  great racing.

congrats to scott speed (there's a name that was MADE for racing) and crew.  now everyone will be keeping an eye on him!!!
