  1. No it's not true..

  2. Actually lost three pounds.  The cruise I went on had 12 night and 11 ports of call that kept you moving and walking.  Whew.  sometime I was too tired to eat a lot and went straight to be.  One tour for example had us walking for four hours.

  3. Well it depends on how much you eat. That shouldn't be the only reason you decide not to go, but you can exercise, swim, snorkel, walk around, and party/dance, I think that you would have no problem keeping the weight off. Just don't overeat and you should be fine. Some people lose weight, I gained like 3 or 4 pounds, but I didn't really do anything, but some other cruises I have been on, I have lost like 10 lbs. It just depends on you.

  4. Last cruise, I only gained 2 or 3 pounds, and I ate everything I wanted, and as much as I wanted.  One secret, is don't use the elevator.  The stairs are healthier.

  5. Totally depends on what you do.  I've been on 5 cruises and my weight fluctuation has ranged from losing 2 pounds to gaining 3.  During the cruise where I lost weight, we signed up for tons of activities and were active every day.  During the cruise where I gained the most weight, we sat on a beach and did nothing for hours every day.  I will admit that I eat way more on a cruise than I would at home, but just walking around the islands burns way more calories than my typical day at my desk job, so it all evens out.

  6. I8've been on two and didn't gain anything. You burn it all off in the excursions or in the gym.

  7. I have actually lost weight because of all the activities I signed up for.  I was gone from the ship while we were at port so missed the never-ending buffets during the day.  By the time I got back from a day of physical exertion, I had barely enough energy for dinner and slept like a log while other passengers when to the midnight buffet.

You always have a choice of healthy entrees, too.  The chefs do a top-notch job, so it's not just salads and tasteless chicken.

You have the opportunity to use the gym or walk/run on the top deck.  If you don't feel like exercising, just eat an appetizer and 3 desserts instead of doing 3 courses.

The cruises I've been on were run by European companies, so the portions for sit-down meals are not like American portions.  I found I did better at the sit-down meals than foraging ravenously through the buffets.

  8. You can gain weight if you aren't careful.  The cruise ships have outstanding food available almost 24 hours a day, and they're happy to bring you whatever you want.  If the dining room is serving lobster that night, they'll bring you 3 of them if you just ask.

So the first thing you have to pack is your self control.  Most of the modern ships have a lot of things to do - get out and start doing them, instead of just eating all the time.

  9. Depends on what u eat....lot of food....

  10. not true at all!!

unless all you do is eat and sleep the whole day

it's all about self control on what you eat

you can as easily gain 10 pounds on a cruise ship as you can at home
