  1. cc sabathia

  2. John Lackey. Not flashy. He is a grinder.

    2005 thru 2008 (So far)

    111 Starts

    80 Decisions

53 wins, only 27 losses. A winning Pctg. of .663.

(The all time Major League record winning percentage is .690)

(Among active pichers with more than 300 decisions, only Pedro Martinez with a winning pctg. of .691 has a chance to break the all time winning pctg. of .690, set by Whitey Ford.

Until this year, Lackey hardly ever missed a start.

Started late this season, missed 1st. six weeks (about 7 or 8 starts) but now has made12 starts with 9 decisions (won 7, lost 2) = .778 winning pctg.

All this while pitching for a relatively low scoring team.

Most consistent hitter, 2005 thru 2008 (so far).

    Carlos Beltran, 2005, Batting Ave. = .266

    Carlos Beltran, 2006, Batting Ave. = .275

    Carlos Beltran, 2007, Batting Ave. = .276

Carlos Beltran, 2008, Batting Ave. = .271 (to date)

Plus he averages 100+ RBI's per season.

Plus, he has a stolen base percentage of over 85%, "lifetime"

Scores over 100 runs per season (When averaged)

This guy is probably the most "Consistent hitter" in baseball this Century.

He is also an amazingly graceful outfielder (ala Joe DiMaggio) and an extremely competent center fielder. When the ball comes down, he is waiting under it. Never flashy, just consistent.

All this, while playing in the pressure cooker called NYC.

He is not as great as Hank Aaron but Carlos Beltran is just as consistent as "Hammering Hank".

  3. Johan Santana.. come on now.. he's been dominant and consistent.. more with the twins though...i knew he should never have left..

  4. Mike Hampton

    He has been consistently injured.

Haha seriously though, I think it's still Johan Santana. He has had only 1 year of plus 3 ERA but in all 3 years, he has had over 200 Ks.

And as for hitter, I would say Albert Pujols. You can basically bank on his .330, 40 homers and 130 RBIs. Miguel Cabrera comes in at a close 2nd.

  5. Pitcher - Brandon Webb.  His ERA hovers right around 3 every year and he K's basically 170+ each year with his WHIP and BAA remaining relatively the same.

Hitter - Albert Pujols.  The guy is a beast.  He had a .997 OPS last year and many people considered that a down year.

  6. If I had to just guess, which I am, I'd say Jake Peavy.

  7. Johan Santana. Even with his "decline" from 2007-2008, he's still the type of pitcher who can carry a staff, the type of pitcher who puts up dominant numbers year after year. As for hitters, I would have to say Albert Pujols. For the first seven years of his career he has hit .300, 30 HR, 100 RBI, minimum.

  8. Roy Halladay

  9. for pitchers I'd have to say Webb he's just constantly on his game, even on bad days he does good.

as for hitting I'd go with Pujols 300+ average with minimum 30 hrs who wouldn't be afraid of him

  10. Brandon Webb.

If this is regular season A Rod or Albert Puholjs. (sorry if i spelled wrong)

  11. Carlos Zambrano

Ichiro Suzuki (Really has been consistent since he entered the majors in I think 2000.

  12. Beckett and Ichiro

  13. Halladay, always good

  14. Carlos Zambrano

    Manny Ramirez

  15. chien ming wang and as for hitter , it would have to be albert pujols
