  1. Absolutely breathtaking , viewed from Canada, Maid of the Mist a must , yes you will get slightly wet but well worth it.

  2. As with many tourist destinations, there are good points and bad points.  It's true the tourist areas are over-commercialized to the point of tacky.  Niagara on the lake is a much more quaint tourist area.

However, on the American side, there is a pedestrian bridge that you can cross that leads to Veil Falls - there is an island essentially in the middle of the American falls you can hang out on for neat views.

The Jetboat (either side of the falls) is also an awesome time.  There are coupons available on-line, so there is never a need to pay full price.

  3. Niagara Falls on itself is very picturesque but as to the town.........yikes !!! The perfect epitomy of bad taste ! Extremely cheap, kind of trashy , catering for trailer parks and rednecks kind of people , nothing of interest whatsoever( my opinion), very crowded during the summer, very expensive ..wait t for hours and hours, crooks selling you carparks spaces...OMG !(tickets, car parks, restaurants)

Edit : which side anyway ? US or Canada ? I heard it was better on the US side..

point of view from Canada here : been there once and will not go back !!!

  4. I went summer of 2006... mist of the maid boat ride was amazing i got soaked and its just soooo wonderful!!! You get right up close to the water fall.

Also walking along that the rainbow bridge i nearly got blown away! its such a beautiful place

  5. I have been to Niagara Falls it is so beautiful, the water falls are so beautiful. I recommend Niagara Falls for a family vacation any day!!!

  6. It is well worth seeing, but Niagra Falls town is absolutely terrible - tacky.  Stay in a town very close by - Niagra on the Lake.

  7. Theres a lot to do. I recommend buying a adventure pass. This will get you on the Maid of the Mist. The tunnel of the winds, the great gorge adventure and the butterfly conservatory. They also give you a people mover pass. This will either keep you very busy for a day or you can do it over two days which I think is better. It will come with a coupon to get a people mover pass 1/2 price the second day. You will really want a people mover pass as the parking is expensive and all that walking will kill you. OK ...maybe not literally. There is a restaurant that my whole family really liked on clifton hill called the Rainforest Cafe. It has a really fun atmosphere and great location but doesn't cost more than an average family restaurant. They usually have a long waiting list of an hour plus during peak times like summer and weekends so I recommend putting your name on their list an hour before you want to eat and go look at the attractions while you wait. Good luck and have fun

  8. Just got wet and soaked.

  9. Niagra Falls is breathtaking.  Though there are some less desirable areas in some parts of downtown - there is also something charming about it as well.  The views are spectacular.
