Now that CSC has won the tour do we think the result would have been the same if Astana was allowed to participate.

  1. Astana is the best team. CSC is abviously the 2nd best now that they did so well in the TDF.

If Astana was in the TDF - They would win the team title, yellow and 2nd place. I would hope Levi would wear yellow.

  2. CSC have always been an excellent team, this years TdF has shown some real team cunning and tactics.

So my answer is with this years winners.

Oh and they ride Cervélos, absolutely brilliant bikes, unparalleled for riding performance.

EDIT: The second part of your question . . hummm!

Although Astana are a good team, I stick with my original answer - Team CSC.

The hunger young Andy Schleck has for a win, will make him a rider to watch out for.

    .

  3. The current Astana team isn't even close to the team of the past. All new riders and mgt. No drug issues at all.

They also have the two best riders in the world and plenty of team to back them up. Astana is the best no question.

And the result if they competed? Contador, Levi, Sastre

  4. Gotta go with CSC.  Wasn't Astana bounced for drug issues?  Considering them would be like considering Barry Bonds the best baseball player or Marion Jones the best sprinter.

  5. Team Astana is the best team...hands down.

They were not "bounced" from the TDF, but not invited because of a doping problem last year.  That rider was immediately fired and all  other riders suspected were let go.  Astana went out and hired the best manager in all of cycling. one who has "never" had a team member test positive for doping. He in turn signed on last years TDF winner and 3rd place riders. The team has proven in every race entered this season that they are no doubt the best in pro-cycling.

The real reason they were not invited to the TDF is that the organizers of that race did not want to see Johan Bruyneel win again. After all he did manage 8 of the last 9 winners.

If "bounced" because of doping, why are they racing in every country but France.  They raced the Giro and won, they will race the Veulta and they will win.

Yes, the outcome would have been different in the TDF, had they been allowed to race.  Good chance 1,2,3 would have been Contador, Liephiemer and Kloden (Astana,Astana and Astana)

  6. Astana has some strong riders, but CSC has more depth. If Asatana had been allowed in TdF, I think Levi or Contador would have won, depending on the team's objectives, but CSC would have still won the team title.
