Who has ever actually won a game of monopoly?

Just wondering. I've never even finished a game, I don't have enough patience. But I like the beginning of the game, where I have all this money. But then someone else ALWAYS lands on the boardwalk and I end up stopping because I know I'll lose anyways.

  1. I've won several times. My parents had a Monopoly game with a list of who won and how much they were worth, and we always wanted to take over the #1 spot! It's hard, though - it's a long game. There are versions out there with trivia questions for a little bit of a change of pace, or you could take a break, putting the game up somewhere safe, then come back refreshed.

Trust me, landing on Boardwalk doesn't always mean you win! My mom loves Boardwalk and always buys it, but it doesn't always work out for her. It's better to get the orange and red properties... hotels are cheaper and people are more likely to land on them.

  2. I love playing Monoply. I win all the time. The new version of Monopoly (Electronic Banking) is really fun and modern. It doesn't take as long to play either.

  3. never finished, i always quit. it was too boring.

  4. Geez, I don't think I've ever won or even finished. MY daughter just got s****. Doo Monopoly for XMAS and we played it once for like 2 hours but then she had enough so we quit. It's fun though.

  5. hey  that's funny my name is lily too! and i have never finished a game ether. weird

  6. I have, and I did it without having Boardwalk or Park Place. The Green and Yellow properties, plus 2 Railroads is a killer combo.

  7. Yeah, that game is REALLY long. I've finished it a buncha times tho~!

  8. it takes A MILLION years, but it is possible :-D

Its a family game, but my brother always wins, we actually once played it for one day, then we had to go to our beach house so we just left it there and finished it when we came back... I think every family secretly loves it!

But to answer ur question, I think I won it once!

  9. I've finished that game many times, its very long and the only times I've finished is because I've had nothing better to do... but its a fun game...

  10. Me. It's simple (though it can still be long). Play by yourself! HAHAHAHA! okay not funny...

  11. It's easy, but all the games I've won were short; either my sisters throwing the money around and going completely out of control, or someone spilling juice on the board. Those are the only two options in my family ;)

  12. I've finished plenty primarily because of my strategy for winning - for it to work involves winning earlier rather than later.  The key to completing a game is for players to get blocks of property that they can improve, therefore establish trading / selling agreements beforehand that will move the game along.

  13. I have played Monopoly lots of times, and I usually win my fair share. I take more risks than most, which could be either a blessing or a curse, depending on how things go. The traditional method of play involves a "king of the hill" approach in which the last player standing wins.

However, this is not the way official tournaments are played, and it is not according to the normal rules of the game. In an official tournament, play continues until one player goes bankrupt. At that point the player (if any) who bankrupted the hapless player pays his or her bills (interest on mortgaged property, plus the principal if he or she wishes to unmortgage it). Then everyone counts their assets (money, property values, house values). The player with the largest amount of assets wins. This method makes for a much shorter game. - LJS

  14. i have

  15. it doesnt usually take that long but you can try the short version where u hand out all the properties

  16. I've participated in Monopoly tournaments where all the games were played to the finish. the longest took 5 hours going back and forth between the last two players. I've won a few times in casual play and I've also won playing the computer version. Thing about that is you can save the game and take your time playing.

  17. Monopoly is endless. The richest wins.
