I found out that i have a corneal ulcer in my right eye. i was terrible about taking out my contacts when i needed to (would sleep in them for weeks) so i know it is my fault. although i have def. learned a lesson- i am wondering about what experiences people have had. the interent is making me feel as though i am going to be partially blind (although the dr. says he thinks i should be okay)! i am taking vigamox every hour while awake and lotemax twice a day. also- the dr. is telling me that i will notice a small white scar after the ulcer heals. is it usually very noticeable?

  1. I also was terrible about taking out my contact lenses. I ended up with a corneal ulcer when I was 17. At first you see a white spot on your eye (when you look in the mirror) but then it fades into a scar that is hardly noticeable. I do notice a little black floating spot at times. It's very small but can be annoying if you pay too much attention to it.  Just make sure you take your contacts out regularly. They will come back. Good luck and don't worry too much.

  2. If you are not blind now, you most likely will not be after you heal. Your scarring might not be any worse than the ulcer looks now. It will heal in time and might go away some. You really should ask your doctor when you have your follow up visit, shich I assume you are going to have! Please take better care of you and know that I had an ulcer once too and it hurt like the dickens and I survived it to see the day that I could wear contacts again. All is not lost! Good luck!
