Who has experienced this and it turned out to be negative???? I need to be reassured please!?

Question

I did a blood test for down syndrome, but it was only 1 test and it came back positive, it wasnt an amnio test either, my real doctor i have now told those tests are not accurate and theres so many false positives! and shed give me an amnio test! neither one of us have history in our family of it and im only 18.! Has anybody else experienced False positives and your baby was healthy and fine? Please give me any stories or advice!!!

My Mom got a positive for Down Syndrome with my little sister.  They did an amnio and found out she was a healthy baby.  I've heard of lots of false positives for that.  I wouldn't worry about it.  Good luck!

Hey sweetie. I had a positive downs result- it was 1 in 150 when it came back. I was devastated, and my dr said they would do the amnio if I wanted. My husband and I decided that it really wasn't worth it, we weren't going to abort if that was the case anyway. They ended up doing the quad test (after the triple screen) and it came back 1 in 750 (which is what the national down syndrome society reports as the actual number of births that are down syndrome in the US is, so normal) my baby was totally healthy. Don't stress too much, these tests have a high rate of false positives.

i have a friend who had a blood test and it said high risk of downs,but when she had amnio it came back fine.screening test is only to assess your risk it doesnt mean that your baby has downs,have an amnio to put your mind at rest!

my aunt had a positive test for down syndrome, but she had a healthy baby boy and the test was wrong.  Best of luck!

my doctor told me that some test can come out positive but it doesn't mean that it is  necessarily mean the baby has down syndrome best of luck

My friend had a test to come back positive, they told her later that her baby had a heart defect seen in down syndrome babies, but had no signs of down syndrome. She was really upset and seen a specialist every month, when she had her baby 6 weeks ago, he was perfect in every way. There was nothing wrong with him. Just stay calm until u find out more details. I pray everything will be okay!

I never took those tests, i am sorry i cant help you there.  This was one of the reasons that i refused the test because they always tell you that there is a high risk of false positives.  Chances are it is a false positive and you have nothing to worry about, but of course you are going to worry, its only natural.  Just relax, the more you freak out the more strain you putting on the baby, probably for no reason.  But on the off chance that it is accurate, you will love this baby, it will still be yours and yes it might be delayed but you will be okay.  I don't know if your a religious person, but i believe everything happens for a reason and god gives children with disabilities to very strong people who can handle it.. (All this is worst case scenario)!  Cheer up and relax momma, i bet you everything is fine and your stressing for nothing!

my blood test came back positive with my last baby and it turned out to nothing and i am now 5 months and my blood test came back positive for downs again my docotor says LOTS of blood tests come back positive and most of the time its nothing. Good Luck
