Looking for someone (in Australia particularly, but all comments are helpful) who has finished or is doing homeschooling for years 11 and 12. Just want to know basic information, the curriculam, what you do, how quickly you can finish both years, any stuff like that would be really helpful. Im completly new to homeschooling and want to do it next year, so i just want to know how it works??

  1. I graduated from homeschool. I was enrolled in a satellite school and just did all the work as soon as I could get it done. The one I used had basic curriculum that they sent based on how you did on a CAT (California Achivement Test) sent at the beginning of each school year (you could start each year whenever). They also had a list of electives that you could order. I did Geometry, Typing, Spanish... I can't remember any others. I did the work all on my own because I am a pretty driven individual. My mom would work out a basic week by week schedule for each course and I would dive ahead and get whatever I wanted to done early. I graduated a year and a half early with a 3.67 GPA.

    With that said...

I don't know what it's like in Australia but in America you don't have to prove anything or meet any requirements. I have a dear friend who got the short end of the stick. His parents decided to "homeschool" him in seventh grade and got seventh grade books- and never got any more. They made him reread the seventh grade books on his own several times over and when he turned 18 they printed a certificate off of the computer and called it a diploma. The poor guy had a heck of a time when the time came to move up in the workforce. He didn't know basic math, English, anything because his parents decided that it wasn't important.

So as long as you do the work and make sure to learn the last two years can be great. You can get a job whenever and do schoolwork whenever. Just make sure that you are learning. You will need it.

  2. My son finished home schooling through high school in the US.  You can complete in your own time, as fast or as slow as you want.  Here you are eligible for graduation at the age of 16.  He was accepted to college within a week after completing his graduation requirements, at the age of 16.
