Pakistan and Sri Lanka keep their players in the game longer than anyone else except maybe India. But there is no doubt that Waqar, Wasim, Murali, and Vaas are all very talented bowlers who deserved the landmark acheivement!

Maybe, the reason in simple, the whole time Waqar & Wasim played, they picked up most of the wickets for Pakistan (ofcourse there was Saqlain Mustaq, but he did not play long enough) and Sri Lanka also depended upon the two stalwarts to pick up wickets. But for other teams, all the bowlers chipped in, for those did not perform was replaced by better bowlers.

The 2 Pakistan players to reach 400 wickets are Wasim Akram (502 wickets) and Waqar Younis ( 416). The two Sri Lankans to get the achievement are Muttiah Muralitharan (478) and Chaminda Vaas who just reached 400 wickets against India when he had Yuvraj Singh caught at short mid-wicket. Muralitharan is the only spin bowler out of the list.
