  1. i think everyone has morals, but everyone's vary. i don't think that there are a set standard of morals that are innately good or bad (sorry plato!), but the only good and bad exists in the mind of a person. people tend to do things (even things we consider to be bad) because of the personal desire to do something that they feel is right. i don't believe that a person wakes up and thinks "today i'll be evil" they do it because they think it's proper. my morals tell me to live according to my own beliefs, and to find out what my exact beliefs are in every situation without outside influence, which is very hard. i try really hard not to judge people (hey! there's a moral i've been hypocritical to!), but it's very difficult. i really believe in the phrase "live and let live". i'm a very avid utilitarian, so i think that everyone has the right to live the way they want, without the judgment or disregard of others. we all need to be able to accept the differences rather than trying to make everyone believe our own values because we need someone else to validate that we're right. we should NOT judge.......at least not publicly. therefore as a public statement for yahoo answers, I POSSESS NO MORALS THAT ALLOW ME TO JUDGE OTHERS AS IMMORAL! there, that's the important part.

  2. Morality is based on what society values as positive, and what is seen as negative.  Therefore, people are generally seen as fitting into one of 3 different categories:

    - moral - someone who acts according to the beliefs and ideals which a society values, such as social justice, respect for the law and the environment, and generally acts in a selfless way (ie. is mindful of his or her affect on others), and is aware of morality and what constitutes it.

    - immoral - someone who acts against any of the beliefs and values held by a society.  Transgressions may include theft, murder, assault etc.  Therefore, one might say that those who are in prison (and who are actually guilty) are immoral people, or have at least acted in an immoral way; they are also aware of morality, but have acted against it anyway.

    - amoral - this can mean either someone who isn't moral or immoral (they don't transgress society's beliefs or ideals, but they also don't go out of their way to be a selfless individual); or someone who is unaware or indifferent to these same beliefs and ideals.

I would say that most people are fundamentally hypocritical - we tend to criticise others for the same actions that we do ourselves.  Most people would also possess some kind of morality, whether or not that fits in or conflicts with society's ideas on "right and wrong".

  3. I have never been a hypocrite because i do not posses morals, i see my self as a kind of 'i do what i want' type person, although i know that makes me sound horrible, but it is not meant in the way that it is written, i mean it in the way that i do what i think would be best for me, however, i do make sure i do not hurt anybody, or my self for that matter, when doing what i want to do.

However, saying that, i am terrible for judging people, i always do it, and i do it to a very high standard, i always go on first impressions and you would be blessed to be the few people that i call a friend. may i point out though, that i am not as arrogant as that came out.

  4. I accept that I am flawed, and try to treat others the way I am treated.  Of course, this doesn't always happen and it is a lifelong struggle to take the higher ground.

  5. mmmmm. A star for you.

    Id say everyone has morals.However;

    1 they have good one

    2 have bad ones

3 they fall somewhere in between

4 they adjust them as best suits the need

5 some are immovable, whether they posess good or bad ones

  6. I think it is proper to judge other people's actions by their own standards, not by my standards.

  7. No amount of morals would allow someone to condemn another for their actions.

However some discretion is needed to prevent harm to ones person by another.

If you appear harmful, it is in my best interest to approach you with caution while trying to determine if you may harm me.

  8. sadly,, looking honestly back on my past i would haveto say yes there were times when i was hypocritical in some areas

  9. I believe myself to have morals, it can be difficult to uphold them at times & have been privy to hypocrisy but nonetheless, I try to do my best. I am only human.

  10. We all have morals.  The question is are they good or bad?

It is not my place to judge others but alas I am human and a sinner so yes, there have been times when I've looked down upon someone else for committing the same act I have.
