At least Harriet Miers is a lawyer.

Ms Palin was the mayor of a town (population 5,000) for two terms, and has been governor of Alaska for part of one term.  She holds a bachelor's degree in journalism.

Voting for McCain at this point means that you are willing to have this lady assume the presidency at a moment's notice.  One of the prime reasons we elect two individuals is so that #2 can step into the #1 spot if something horrible happens to #1.  McCain is 72 years old, and a cancer survivor.  One would have hoped he'd select a seasoned statesman for the vice presidency.
