  1. The Zamboni driver.

  2. I think the GM has more say in the hockey sense.  Isn't the president more involved in the business sense?  Sounds like they wanted him out of the public eye.

  3. This was a promotion for Kevin Lowe.  He was the one who hired Steve Tambellini.

The old President was Patrick LaForge, but with the sale of the team to Katz earlier this spring, the position was vacant and Kevin, who was also the Executive VP of the Oilers and GM was filling the role of President as well.

So, Kevin Lowe will be Steve Tambellini's boss going forward.

This isn't uncommon either, For a lot of teams, it is the same person doing a P/VP and GM role.

Don Waddell is Atlanta's GM and Executive VP

Jim Rutherford is Carolina's President and GM

Francois Giguere is Colorado's Executive VP and GM

Dean Lombardi fills both President and GM roles in LA

Doug Risebrough is both President and GM of the Wild

Bob Gainey is both Executive VP and GM of Montreal

    etc

  4. It depends on what team....what decision has to be made...and what other members of the organization feel as well (coaches, players, scouts, management, etc...). So id say hockey related decisions goto the GM...Business, budget, and salary cap issues prolly goto the team president.
