Biker Jacket:, I have had many bikes, not a harley since he 70s, but I do think you have a great answer, I do think it goes for all bikes though, riding is a wonderfull thing, just dont see allot of people on here that just purely talk about the JOY of riding. I find the most deserted road and take it to the end, then find another and keep going.  It keeps my sanity, thanks for the post and keep the rubber side down

That is more up to the owner than the bike -Any bike not just Harleys, I know a few with close to 200 K and no problems at all BUT I have seen a couple also with 40 that I wouldnt buy

I see 2 questions- highest mileage on their Harley-Davidson= a rider.

How many miles before a rebuild = the bike and rider's style and attention.

I finally put my leg over a Harley 6 years ago when I retired after 20 years off the saddle of a British bike. (I know, but at least I did it.) 30,000 miles on a Wide-Glide, 2 up and some long trips. I maintained the bike religiously. Everything was fine when I traded it in on an Ultra-Classic which now has 2300 miles on it in a month. I think it's all about the rider, where the rider goes, how the rider rides and maintains (or not) the bike.

As to the first question- I'd love to put a million miles on my rear in the saddle but it's just probably not going to happen so I take each mile as a gift and relish the moment and opportunity. The great thing about owning my Harley is that for the first time in my life, I have buddies and real friends to ride with and am accepted for who I am. So--each mile with a friend along is a double gift.

I think like everything else in life, "You puts your money down and you takes your chances." But I've seen bikes that have carried their owner a good 100,000 miles.

Ride safe- the long trips on a bike are the greatest.

Mine does not have high mileage...yet, but I have seen a couple with just over 200,000.
