Question:

Who has the best DVRs, Charter (or your own cable company), TIVO, or somebody else?

My situation that bugs me: It's basketball playoff season & my rented Charter cable company DVR gets full quick. On many occasions I know it's only full to about 90 % capacity, so it should be able to record 3-4 hours on it, plenty for a game or at least a 1-hour show. I set it to record a show, leave, & come back to find it all of a sudden saying it's full (when it's definitely not) and doesn't record the show. Usually turning it off & on again resets it to accurately show how much recordable space is left. I know, I need to just keep it more cleared off so there's LOTS of space to record something, but...

- Does anyone else have this problem?

- Anyone have issues with a cable company rental?

- Anyone ever used cable co's & Tivo &/or another?

- I know Tivo is really the operable system, but does it ever have problems like this, or any other recurring problems?

The bottom line is I'm thinking about getting another DVR, especially if it's more predictable.

Thanks.

  1. I have Charter box but a Tivo for my dvr.  Don't forget the Hours they tell you is maximum for the worst quality recording setting.  Once you change to a better quality recording that takes up more hard drive space.  It's just like VCRs and DVD recordings.  The better the quality the less the space/time.
