On the whole Russian have made much more of am impact. But now the Swedes , Finns and Czechs are right on their heels. But the edge still goes to Russia right now

Great Question.  B.L. (before lockout), I would have said the Russians...but the Swedish, are making some pretty big waves now, as well.  I am going to say the Russians are making 55% of the impact and the Swedish are making 45% of the impact.  It is a tough call.  

Now I'm am going to be thinking about this all day.....grrr.

I'm thinking Zetterberg, Franzen, Holmstrom, Forsberg, Lidstrom are some pretty big names as well, even if their productivity are not as big as Malkin and A.O., though Datsyuk is Russian as well, and I haven't seen his name listed once.

Great Question. I think there are alot of young russians making an impact on the nhl. Look at ovechkin mr.65 goals this season and Malkin who had a phenomenal season as well.

But then again half the red wings are swedes and they made a big impact this year since they won the cup.

So i don't know i think they both make a big impact on the game because both has great players.

Other then the Detroit/Swed national team, I'd say the Russians have had a bigger impact. The Swed's just stepped up big as of late where the Russians are the ones who impacted the league up untill this point.if the Sweds continue to shine then the impact will come from them.

Oh i agree with most people. The Russians before the Lockout

Then the Swedes after, Its probably because Patrick Elias got hepatitis A when he was playing in Russia during the lockout, so either the Russian players got sick or failed the new tests set out to protect the NHL players.

I think the Russians are more dominant right now. (Ovie, Malkin, Datsyuk, Kovalchuk, etc.)

Right now is the Russian dominence, they have Ovechkin, Daystuk, and Malkin leading the pack with a variety of young new guys. The Swedes have soo many talented players but right now they can't match up to the Russians.

I think the Russians do because they have the bigger names like Ovechkin and Malkin.  The Swedes only have the older players like Peter Forsberg.  If you think about it Ovechkin and Malkin both score goals like crazy.  So I think the Russians have the bigger impact on the NHL.

I'm going to go with the Swedes - like Lidstrom, Holmstrom, Zetty, and all those good guys :)

Even though Datsyuk is from Russia I still am going with the Swedes
