OK, my '03 Focus is dead-dead when you hop in it. Won't crank, just makes clicking noises in the steering column. It is like the battery is discharging immediately. Once you jump it, you can drive it. Shut it off, it's done. This started all of a sudden. No warning signs. Just shut it off after driving to work, and I went to run out for a pop a little while later and it was dead. It is some goofy 40R battery size. I can't find one for under 90 bones. I always bought diehards in the past, but Sears site says it doesn't have one for my car. I need to get one tonight. Is there another group size that will fit in a focus? Any brands to stay away from. Anyone have similar experiences with a Focus that maybe I'm overlooking something?

  1. I don't know about cheap, but I always replaced it with the Red Optima battery. It costs $169.  It's one d**n good battery and it maintenance free.

  2. the best are'nt cheap

  3. Go to Sears. They will test the battery as well as the entire electrical system. They have inexpensive batteries that are well made and last a long time. The main thing is they have a superior warranty and service system. I think most of the car batteries except for a few specialized types are made by Exide anyway.

  4. Take to auto Zone or Kragen and they will test for free as well as supply you with a good battery.

  5. interstate or continental batteries are good I would not go for cheap on this one.

  6. What do you want, cheapest or best?  You can't have both.
