  1. A salary as opposed to combined income of investments etc. would probably be a CEO of a major American company.  Some of them earn $250 million a year in cash, benefits and stock options (which are not cash at the time but can be later).  Some Wall St. folks make that much and more in one year, but it varies year by year.

  2. Bill Gates or that jerk who runs saudi arabia

  3. "Salary" means earnings and so the person should not have ownership in the company to qualify for this title.  So that would probably be a blue chip CEO.  It is hard to quantify those guys' salaries because they often get many sorts of compensation.  (Read GE's Jack Welch's divorce settlement - his wife told about mirad of ways he was compensated; fresh flowers, doggie travel, etc, private plane, etc.)

So if you count all those nice perks, it would have to be a giant corporation's CEO, but then again, those salaries are not really performance based.  Yes, they should be but they are not.  For example, GM's Roger Smith closed about 17 plants and was considered a "genius" and paid handsomely.  I guess their plan all along was to make GM fail, so mission accomplished.  So even when CEOs lead during lean years, they are rewarded better than ever.  There's only one reason to do that.  Can you calculate $10 million plus perks divided by 12?..... I would estimate salary is about 12 million so one per month and perks could double that.  So I guess it's about 2 million per month.  Nice job if you can get it.

Perhaps this is more an average CEO, now.
