    Its hs job as the executive of the nation.

  7. First you can only appoint a 5-star General in wartime(Iraq is not an officialy declared war). But only the President has the power appoint/discharge a 5-star General.

  8. The only person that can relieve a 5-star general from power is the President.  The 5 star general falls right under the president as far as military chain of command.  The 5 star general is the highest ranking official and talks directly to the president.
