  1. George Foreman, I believe. 68 KOs in 76 wins... it wasn't until the 90s (when he was an old man) that other fighters managed to go the distance with him more often. When he fought Ali he was 40-0 with 37 KOs. When he met Everett Martin in '89 (and won by points) he was 62-2, and with 59 KOs. So he was 40 then, and fighting as a professional since '69 - with a KO percentage of 95*.

This meant that if you were gonna fight Foreman back in the day, you had to win - or you'd be knocked out 19 times out of 20. And unlike Tyson, George fought some tough guys. Chuvalo (only got knocked out twice in 93 bouts), Frazier (twice), Norton (no, not the anti-virus guy)...

If the maths bore you - just see one of the old Foreman fights and shudder at the thought of standing in the way of that... thing. You can just see that his punches are different from the other heavyweights, in how they affect his opponents. Truly awesome.

*of the fights he won, of course, not total.

  2. MIke TYson Or Miguel Cotto if you ask Alfonso Gomez

  3. This one has been debated for all time, and will probably continue for another eternity.  In boxing (and this is a boxing thread) no heavyweight had the punching power of Earnie Shavers.  Not Tyson, not Foreman, not even Tua or Bowe.  The problem is, Shavers couldn't box very well. . .and all the punching power in the world can't save you from an Ali or a Holmes.  (I know that the TYSON-fanatics will call me crazy, but if Holmes says Shavers hit harder than Tyson, that's good enough for me).

***Honorable mention:  Big George with his killer punches rocked the entire division TWICE.  I think he hit harder than Tyson, too.

  4. ernie shavers & george foreman

  5. joe frazier

  6. Your question was about boxing so id say that rules bruce Lee out..but at the minute is has to be Kelly Pavlik, 33-0 with 29 KO's...i didnt rate him as a boxer even when he Koed taylor, but he has shown in the rematch where he outclassed him he is the best middleweight out there...joe calzaghe needs to fight him rather than RJJ, well thats my opinion

  7. Iron Mike

  8. 1. mike tyson

    2. joe louis

    3. jack dempsey

    4. george foreman

    5. rocky marciano

  9. Recently its Kelly Pavlik but I would have to say Mike Tyson or Geoge Foreman.
