Who has used Invisalign?

I went to the dentist this morning, and my dentist is licenced for invisalign. I asked him if I qualified (about a year ago they said I had too much of an overbite and said to try again in a year). He asked me what exactly I wanted done with the invisalign, and I told him that the spacing in my top teeth (I have a small gap in my two front teeth and some of my top teeth are spaced out). He said that I should be able to do it, and my treatment should be a little less than a year. My dad scheduled an appointment for it in November.

I'm 14 and going to be starting my freshman year in high school, so I was wondering what it's like to have invisalign for those who have used it/ are in the middle of treatment? Will it affect my normal school routine?

I just want to know what it's like to wear them :)

  1. I am your age, and am going throuhg the same thing. I have just gotten my invisalign, the thing about the lisp is true. If you ahve to wear a bottom aligner you do talk a little different but it goes away. It is annoying to have to brush or rinse after you eat but really no big deal. The pain is minimal, it only hurt to take the bottom alaigner off cause i have like a million attatchments. My treatment is about a year and a 1/2. Once I am in school I am just going to rinse my mouth with water, I refuse to brush my teeth at school. Once I am at home I will brush them. Other than that they cause no other problems as I can see it.

  2. I have, works great

  3. Yeah it is great! People cannot really tell you are wearing them unless they look really close. The first week you will most likely have a lisp and more saliva in your mouth than usual. After a week of being used to them, you should be fine =) (Reading outloud for a half hour each day will help the lisp) You need to have them in about 22 hours a day.
Make sure you that you take them out when you eat. Then, either rinse your mouth out with water or go brush your teeth before you put them back in. I would advise you to brush your invisalign aligners 3 times a day... so they do not get yellow or some weird color =)
