I'm going to be starting out as a freshman in a week, going to school Mon-Fri, and working full time, five days a week on evenings and weekends. How the h**l am I supposed to have a social life? I want to be able to enjoy college, but since I'm commuting from thirty-five minutes away, I'm worried I'm going to miss out. Plus I already hardly talk to any of my friends from high school now.

Has anyone had to do this before? or still have to?

  1. Okay, I don't think telling you to quit your job is a good answer at all. I'm in the same exact situation, and I NEED my job. How else am I going to pay for gas, car insurance, food, ect? Be realistic people.

Anyway. Yes, your social life will be less full. My bf does the same thing and last semester we went for a whole month without seeing each other, but that was just during finals.

I think that it just feels like you'll have no time. Chances are you'll find some time once you get into the swing of things. I know the people at my job go back to someone's house and hang out after work (we close at 10:30). It wouldn't be so bad for me since I start classes at 11am, but if you have an 8am class I wouldn't recommend.

It's just a different schedule to work with. Take a week or two and just focus on getting a head start on school. Once you get comfortable, I'm sure you'll find that you have more time than you think. Plus, you'l probably make friends with people in your classes and can kind of mix study time and social time there.

For me, I only have one friend that isn't going away and I work with her so that's how I socialize.

    Good luck!

  2. YOUR SOCIAL LIFE IS OVER, I WENT TO SCHOOL MONDAY - THURSDAY AND WORKED THURSDAY NIGHT -SUNDAY MORNINGS 12 HOUR SHIFT .

  3. I havent done that but i strongly recommend that you do not do that. Working full time will not allow you enough time to study, let alone have a social life with your friends. My advice is take another loan for your expences, itll be worth it when you get that education and that good job. If you dont you may end up working that full time job the rest of your life without an education
