  1. An aeronautical engineer the average starting salary is in the 60,000-80,000 range

while a pilots is near the 20,000-30,000 range

  2. I agree with Kiss. If all you care about is money in 10 years or less you are going to be pretty unhappy if you don't enjoy what you do for a living. If you are just doing a survey of salaries then there are to many variables to make a comparison.

  3. If you are only interested in the salary, perhaps you should re-think your career choices.  I would become a stock broker, they make a lot.  I hope there aren't many pilots who don't really love to fly.  I hope the same thing for engineers.

  4. A pilot starts out at the bottom of the airline's seniority list, and starts to get paid more as he rises through the ranks. A pilot's pay also depends on how large the aircraft is that he is flying, if he is flying a commercial, corporate, or private aircraft, and how large his airline is.

An engineer will probably start out with a higher salary than a pilot, but his income will probably not increase as much as a pilot's does. It will also depend on the engineer's title and job functions- assistant, project manager, team mananger, lead designer, etc.

As for "lifestyle"....I don't know why one would assume a pilot doesn't have a better one..... I'm married to a pilot and we fly for free anyplace we want to go. I guess if you are not into travelling, a pilot's lifestyle isn't a good one.

  5. Depends on whom each is working for.  A captain with 10 years seniority at a major airline will likely make more than an engineer, but for the first decade or so, an engineer will probably outdo a pilot.  It would be easier to find jobs with high salaries as an engineer, and starting salaries would probably be higher, but pilots probably have a higher salary ceiling and in the long run end up surpassing an engineer.

An engineer however, would probably have a better lifestyle than a pilot considering the amount of time a pilot is generally away from home/family.

  6. ppl with better grammer usually have a better salary.
