I am sorry I am direct on this but it is just true.

You call Gold medal equal to Brozne?  Are you out of your mind?

So say the country with 0 gold, 0 silver, 20 bronze medals deserve better rank than that with 19 gold, 0 silver, 0 bronze?

Go check the value of gold.  Gold is mutiple folds expensive than silver and bronze.  Bronze medals in terms of object value is worth really nothing.(other than partipation and recognition being in top 3)

However I am not saying silver and bronze medals are worth nothing.  Still being in the 2nd and 3 rd place in Olympics, where all great athletes from all over the world compete, is still worth of award and recognition.  BUT... 1st place is the real winner.  And getting the gold medal in the event that happen in 4 year period, not every year, is just priceless.  Gold medal is just priceless, not only its value of the metal but also glory of recognition in the Olympic history.

I am American as well but I find it ridiculous we go by medal count.  Almost all other countries use rank by gold medal.  I repeat again, gold medal is just priceless. Enough said.

Number of gold medals is always tops. A country with 1 gold medal is better than a country with two bronze medal any day.

Only medal tally on Yahoo and a few other sites go by total medals. Most media go by total gold medals.

The only reason America is using medal count is to soften the blow of not winning.  

No one else in the world thinks your winning.

Why can't you be satisfied with how well you've done and producing Phelps , the greatest gold medal winner ever.
