  1. Of course it is a myth.

    1. If Global warming is due to humans producing excess greenhouse gasses on earth does not explain the recession of the polar ice caps on mars.

    2. A logical prediction of the Greenhouse Gas model of warming predicts air tempertures below the lower stratosphere to be increasing proportional to the service temperature. This prediction is not supported by measurments taken.

Both the recession of ice caps on mars (and earth) and a rise in surface temperatures on the art can be attributed to an increase solar output. A natural cycle that can be confirmed historically. Increased carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is in fact an effect of the warming not the cause. As increased solar output heats up the oceans more CO2 is released into the atmosphere. Correlating CO2 in polar and Antartic ice shows this correlation with warming and heating cycles in history with the incrase in CO2 manifesting after the heat, not preceeding the heat.

  2. Al Gore is an idoit. Global warming does not exist!!!!

  3. Global warming is not a myth. Man-made global warming is.

The earth goes through natural cycles of temperatures, and we are simply on a slight warming trend there is no stopping it, but don't worry, we'll live through it.

  4. it's not a myth...it started before the industrial revolution....

heard of the ige age and when it melted??hmm?? way before industrialization

  5. Not me

  6. it is. They are always saying that it is global warming and the next year they say it is ice-age. They are just saying that to make money. It's just how nature is and it doesn't have much to do with how we are living.

  7. Although the degree to which greenhouse gases are causing the global warming remains unknown, it is evident that the Earth is warming up. There are scientific indicators such as the changes in thespecies of  marine plankton in the North Atlantic, flowering plants blooming earlier than they typically are suppose to, the increase in the rate of the glaciers melting, and the crumbling of the Anartic shelves.  Despite what naysayers may think, the Earth's climate is changing and if you do not believe science then ou can take a look around you and maybe notie the subtle changes- remember when it was cold every Christmas ( I wore short sleeves this year and shorts another), remember when you could pack away your clothes for the season ( the temperature has ranged from the low 30's to the high 80's all in the same week), remeber when insects were rarely seen in the colder months ( well now they exist in record high numbers). If you do not trust me, then trust yourself.  Look around you this is not the weather of yesterday. Now ask yourself- Do you think that global warming is a myth?

  8. Probably the most expensive myth ever. Just wait until they start hitting us with the CO2 taxes. It is only beginning. Make sure to tell everyone you know about the AGW myth. Unless you like tehm taking your money and distributing it to others (mainly themselves).

And by them, I mean politicians and the UN crowd.

  9. Global warming is not a myth.

Got ya. The myth is that humans can cause it or change it.  The Sun is the problem and we need to extiguish it somehow so it can not heat up our planet anymore.

  10. Is climate change a myth? No

Is man-made climate change a myth? Yes

  11. no its the truth just go out and explore the outside

  12. Most of us'll all be killed soon enough anyway, one way or another.

  13. i dont think global warming is a myth at all...it has been proven..and anyway dont u think it was bound to happen, if not already?

  14. daniel

Let me start off by saying we (my family and I) live 100% off of the grid and are completely self-sufficient with a 0% Carbon footprint. I believe this is the first step anyone can make “help the environment”. Once you convert your own life style to a greener more eco friendly route, you can start helping others.

We definitely didn't start global warming, but we definitely do contribute to it now.

Natural gas (or Methane along with other thanes) for example, is completely a natural contributer to global warming and is derived pretty much the same way as oil. ie. Matter (animal, plant etc) decomposes over time resulting in a anaerobic (hope I spelled that right) decay of non-fossil organic material / gas (natural gas or methane).

One problem with global warming is that the concept is so vague in the minds of the people. The critical interpretation is basically how it’s explained in school and the news. However most of the public see global warming connected with the ozone and pollutants which cause harmful greenhouse gasses, etc. therefore investigating and fighting for things like alternative energy (ie. Solar, wind, hydrogen, ethanol, biodiesel, etc)

Greenhouse gases are real and do contribute to global warming. Think of the different gas layers like ozone (o3) that circumference the globe as the clear plastic on a greenhouse. Longer rays of light from the Sun go in and reflect off different thermal masses bouncing back and creating shorter lengths of energy that cannot exist the plastic barrier. These beams then just continue to bounce around inside the green house until they’re finally absorbed completely (some do escape but very few), thereby warming the greenhouse greatly even in cold temperatures.

Basically there are 2 ways that this reaction (or lack of) affects the planet. Global warming and global cooling.

    1. as we add to the gases in the stratosphere, where the ozone layer is (Carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, etc), we add to the plastic of the greenhouse, trapping more short wave length energy and heating the earth more.

    2. as we deplete the ozone (with chlorofluorocarbons or CFCs), we allow more long wave length energy, which bounces back out to space without heating any thermal masses on earth, thereby cooling the planet.

It’s pretty easy to see the results..

    Melting ice sheets & glaciers

    Floods & droughts

    Great hurricanes & cyclones

    Seasonal extremes

    Seasonal phenomena’s

    Species extinction

    New & resurgent diseases

There are many ways to stop both global warming and cooling from accruing or at least slow them down until we can discover a way to reverse it, but Stop burning fossil fuels is the biggest.

I currently own 2 converted h2 vehicles which run on 100% hydrogen and 1 EV (electric vehicle), not to mention our home is completely off the grid, using alternative energy (solar, wind, etc)

  15. global warming is not a myth it is real

  16. if you think bush runs america (which is no) then theres your answer...

  17. GW... No....

    AGW... Yes.

We have alot of pitiful responses.

  18. Anyone who does is terribly ignorant on the subject (which is no crime, but I'd suggest they read up.) It's happening.

Anyone who isn't sure but *says* it's a myth probably has some political or big-business agenda, not the search for fact and truth... or is easily persuaded by someone like that.

If you are asking whether we believe humans are the cause of it, I'm about 95% convinced that we are at least *part* of the problem, and unlike some others, I base that not on feeling or wishful thinking, but on the careful research I've read from *credible* sources.

I would provide references, as I have before, but you seem to be asking for our opinions and beliefs rather than for information, so I'll leave it at that.

Months ago I, too, had heard there's uncertainty, even within the scientific community.  Sadly that's enough for some people -- those who can't be bothered to educate themselves.  But I can and did, and found that the so-called debate is largely between scientists who've studied it and people who don't care to -- especially gullible people who've heard incredulous morons bloviate about it.  There's NOT much debate among scientists themselves.

If we're going to call arguments between the educated and the ignorant "debates," there've been a lot of other debates we should continue to make public!...the round earth debate... the smoking/health debate... the ozone hole debate... the tooth fairy debate!  (Who believes this round earth nonsense??)

Seriously, it's obvious that some people cannot build on new knowledge; they live forever in the dark.  For example...

~Living4HIM~ : Who is "they?" Who are saying that just to make money?  And what is your evidence?  Secondly, a little research would educate you to the fact that this "ice age" you refer to (though that's not quite what anyone is suggesting) can actually be *linked* to global warming -- or more accurately, global climate change.  In response to your answer, I'll add that some people probably have a *religious* agenda, though I don't get the motivation. Perhaps they think little ol' humans couldn't possibly have such an effect on God's creation? That's a very dangerous assumption to fall back on.

Likewise to worldemperor... it's dangerous to defer to bloggers (or even any of us) as your information source, when there are good science references on the subject.

I am no more *personally* aware of the connection between humans and global climate change than these skeptics are, and I even encourage a healthy skepticism on anything any one person tells you. But careful research has revealed to me that the *science* community overwhelmingly sees the human-climate connection. I trust in science above the opinions of any person or special interest group!

Ronda, though I differ with you about Al Gore being an idoit [sic] you are revealing your ignorance by suggesting he's the one who started this "myth."  Environmental scientists were talking about it long before he got so publicly involved.

That One Dude, no expert that I've read is denying the natural cycles of climate. But they say we are now accelerating the process. Your ignorant over-confidence and feigned expertise is helping to insure the future unsurvivability of our planet. Yes, *we'll* live through it, but it's obvious you're too selfish to care about your children or their children, or the rest of earth's life.  Your feelings are more expert than the scientists' observations and data, right?

People like you disgust me.  You probably still throw your trash out your car window, too, don't you?  Innocent ignorance is one thing; *choosing* ignorance and selfishness, and being pompous about it is reprehensible.
