  1. Steaming foods is a great, nutritious way to cook. It adds zero cooking-based calories, and preserves vitamins. The best way to steam is to place a colander (metal please) in the bottom of a large pot with 1 inch boiling water. This saves you from buying expensive (and hard to operate) professional steamers.
