Who here has been to Germany?

I have been wanting to go to Germany for years and I just wanted to know when would be the best time to go and where the best places are

my mother in law lives there so I've been plenty of times! If you like a drink try weinfest - it the seasonal wine tasting event and it's massive.

We go to Alternach (excuse spelling  - always had a few glasses when I've been there and not paid enough attention) It's beautiful, the area is full of large hills/mountains and covered in vines.  The whole place is packed in October and every bar had free wine tasting to go with their associated vineyard.

It is also close to the nurburgring and maybe an hour from cologne where you can visit the dom (very large cathedral)  which is a regular pilgrimage for catholics - and the town 's shopping facilities are a woman's dream.

Berlin is a great city as well, there are definitely lots of things to see eg Brandenburg gate (again excuse the possible mis spelling)
