  1. No way. That movie doesn't look the least bit interesting to me and the trailer is so d**n annoying. The Dark Knight though kicks @ss.

  2. I went to see the film with my husband on Monday evening.

It is very funny, and the acting is excellent and the locations stunning, but the singing is atrocious.  What the thinking was behind having a musical with a cast of actors none of whom can sing I do not know.  My husband suffered more from the lousey singing than I did because he is more musical than me, but even I could tell it was pretty ghastly.  My husband said the only one who had a half-decent singing voice was one of Meryl Streep's friends, not Julie Walters, the other one, who used to be in 'Cybill', but I can't think of her name

However, if you can overlook the terrible singing it really is tremendous fun, absolutely hilarious and with breathtakingly beautiful scenery.  And the cast can't sing but they can act.  my husband accused me of drooling over Pierce Brosnan which is TOTALLY untrue (mostly untrue anyway), but he was quite taken with the girl who played Meryl Streep's daughter.  So there is something for everyone really.  I certainly think you will enjoy yourself if you go.

  3. If you like incredible musicals made into cheesy movies then yeah it's very good.

However, if you're going to spend the money for the movie I suggest spending just a little bit more and actually seeing the musical on stage.

Musicals made into movies are never as good.

    Edit:

yeah Rio, Meryl Streep was IMO the redeemable part of the movie.

The musical doesn't work well on film.

  4. I am going to go see it.   I saw it in NYC as a stage production and loved it.

  5. Did you mean to type "Mamma Mia"? It looks really cute, and I love ABBA music, but I've pretty much quit watching new movies. I'll watch it when it's on TBS over and over again.

    Best wishes. ♥ ∞

  6. I haven't seen the movie, but I saw the play last year. I like Abba, so I loved it. It's fun and funny. I can't get my BF to go though. I think he'd rather have a root canal. HAHA

  7. I've seen it on stage, and it'll probably work better that way than as a movie. But Meryl Streep is a fantastic actress, so most of her movies are worth seeing.

  8. I don't know why my husband wants to see it, but it's weird how he does. No he isn't g*y, he just like Abba.
