Who here hates soul food restaurants?

I think hate is a strong word for this question but I agree with you that the food is pretty greasy.

My office parties include 'soul food' since most ppl at my work place are black and I am always turned off by all the grease.

I am sure you can get high blood pressure and diabetes from other types of diets also. I am Indian and there is a high rate of heart disease, high blood pressure and diabetes within my community. It has more to do with genes and the type of foods you eat.

First off...who are "they"?  Second off, if you don't like it don't eat it.  I don't like soul food either...but you don't see me whining about it.

Edited:  ExoticAngel, I wouldn't call her a racist like some of the others did...but she should definitely let us know who "they" are.  Soul food isn't just a "Black" thing...it is also a "southern" thing.  

Also, not everyone who cooks the food eats the food.  My family eats soul food...however, I do not.  When I invite family over...I cook the food the way they would like it.  Sounds to me like your girl is misinformed as well as you.

Ur right! C I'm black and my dad eats soul food. C my dads hometown is in Memphis,TN. So ya. I totally agree with u. I dont like soul food. Yuk! TOOOOOOO greasy!

I don't know where you're from but there are a couple who use canola oil in frying their chicken and use smoked turkey instead of pork in their veggies.

There are some who give soul food a bad name and you have others who think that grease=taste.  Yeah, they're only 40 and taking meds for diabetes and high blood pressure.

I like soul food but I prefer mine homemade. It is greasy but I only eat it in moderation.
