  1. I come unglued in jobs where I am not self-employed.  Too many convolutions of politics and moronic leadership for me to tolerate for too long.  So, I always stay self-employed and free.  The trick is to be good at it, to figure out that balance of extra-work with extra-reward and generate enough money to get ahead of hand-to-mouth existence.  Once you get just a little ahead, it gets easy and you know you will never work for anyone else ever again.  Wage-slavery is a contemptible trap, a taking of the blue pill that Morpheus offers Neo in the film "Matrix".

  2. Yes, and Yes.

  3. I am with a partner. He happens to my man too.

Yes - I can work when I want, dress how I want, and answer email in a towel if I want. It's pretty cool.

Worked in the corporate world for over 16 years.

  4. My dad is because he got layed off from Dow. He owns his own business now. He likes it A LOT more. As for me, I'm going to be a doctor or biologist, so I'm more so going to be part of a company/building to work at.

Although, I would rather be self-employed. That'd be interesting and you would be able to make up your own schedule most of the time. But with my career choices, it would be hard to do that because obviously with a doctor you generally are part of a company/hospital and with a biologist, a research team... not self-employed. btw, my dad's a material's scientist/physics major, if that matters.
