Who here supports Jenson Button more than Lewis?

No disrespect to Hamilton, but I was watching when Button first started in F1 and I believe he has the skills to win more races if he is in the right car. It was a great moment to see him winning in Hungary 06.

I think Lewis Hamilton is a great driver and I support him in every race, but if it came down to the two of them, I would be cheering for Button just because I have been a fan of his for longer and I think he is at the moment quite underrated.

What do you think?

  1. 100% true. A change in team for JB and he`ll be in the podium in every races..

  2. Yes Hamilton is a talent but Button has had to work so much harder for his F1 results. After being dropped after a brilliant debut season in 2000 by Williams ( for the dumb Colombian) he had to go to the one driver only supporting Benetton? Renault team and after a difficult 2001 season, had an impressive 2002 season, comfortably outpacing Jarno Trulli, only to be unfairly dropped again! BAR took Jenson on in 2003 where he was regularly in the points and lead the US GP, until he retired. In 2004 he was excellent, for most of the season being the only driver that could get any where near the sickeningly dominant Ferrari's. 2005 was difficult after getting disqualified for BAR's fuel ballast cheating, Jenson came back and outscored Sato 35 to 1! Despite high hopes 2006 started slow but by mid season he was bang on and in the last 8 races, outscored everyone else!! Since then he in my opinion has drove above his car and scored wherever conditions and car has allowed.

The smoothest driver in F1 is now overlooked by a man who had a very lucky break, though in years time Lewis' record of wins and podiums will look more impressive, Button will be regarded very highly in my book as a potential champion that (may) never get the chance.

  3. I've always liked Button... never been a fan of Hamilton.

  4. It would be Jenson every time for me.

No disrespect to Lewis he has certainly got talent but I think if any other driver had the same scholarship with Mclaren or with any of the other top teams as Lewis has had then they may be in a similar position that he is now. The likes of DC, Jenson and Anthony Davidson have all cut their teeth the old fashioned way by working their way through by their own means I imagine whereas Lewis has been scholared by Mclaren since he was a youngster and therefore has the advantage of having his career to date tailored exactly to his style and not had the experience or the compromise of driving in the lower ranks. Put him In Jensons car or even a Red Bull and see how well he does.

Even if Lewis wins the title Jenson will get my support first.

  5. Good for you for standing by your man. You don't stop supporting someone because the country has another contender out there.

I agree with Dan that Lewis' first win was expected and therefore lacking in a sense of occasion. Jenson on the other hand had served his F1 time (more than, some would say) by the time of his first win.

I hope Honda pull themselves together and give Jenson a decent car to contest with. God knows we don't need ANOTHER season of Ferrari/McLaren domination.

  6. I am not an ardent fan of both but I would most likely support JB. Hamilton is really lucky to have made his F1 debut in a team that is a frontrunner with a really good solid car. JB on the other hand, had some struggles. Even now, the Honda doesn't look like championship material but they have taken a huge step forward from last year. So I'm hoping that they'll be able to do a good job at this weekend's GP.

It's good to know that you are standing by your driver regardless of how he is doing. Some people just jump on the bandwagon and then get off it when that driver's not so hot anymore.

  7. I support Button over Lewis anytime! If Button was at Mclaren with Lewis, I can guarantee u that Button would out perform him easily!

  8. I like them both, but I like Lewis more because he is a big, young driver. I felt the same when Jenson started. He was running at the top with the Feraris three years ago. But I must admit. David Coulthard is still the best, the one and only!

  9. u know, most of the people are supporting u coz they just want to get the best answer reward from u. They are not giving their true opinion. It's all bullshit to even compare button and HAMMY. Hammy is going to be the greatest legend in F1 history. U know even if Lewis will be driving for Force India (which is nearly impossible) then also he will be challenging for a top-five finish in every race. Sure, Hamilton had got a better car but this is because he deserves it more than Button.

  10. well, i actually think button is a pretty dam good driver, and Honda is the team i root for (ive always been a Honda fan)

this year button has had some bad luck id say.. he kept getting knocked out on the first corner, or someone didn't want to share space (DC).. or he missed practice and had to use a different set up.. (RB's) the Honda car is much better this year and with steady improvement it should be as fast or maybe faster than the Renaults.. and with that id be dam happy to see a real Button vs Alonso battle on the track!

so ya, i support button more then lewis.. lewis was pretty good last year, looks like something go to him and hes just all over the place this year... still inexperienced i think

  11. Look at my user name! I have been following Lewis for years now long before he got into a F1 car. I think Jenson is a good driver and if he had the right car he would win races but I cheers for Lewis every time. I like all the British drivers to do well.

  12. I'll support Jenson Button over Lewie the Brat anytime.

Hamilton fans are such hypocrites.  Does anyone honestly think he'd have fans if he was on a c**p team like Spyker when he started?

  13. I agree, I just wish he got the second seat at McLaren, then i'm sure he would show what he could do.

  14. I was certainly more happy when Jenson won in Hungary than when Lewis won in Canada... for the Jens win it was more like the feeling i had when Damon Hill won for Jordan at Spa in 98.. and when he nearly won in 97 in the Arrows.. just complete euphoria... whereas the Lewis win was more... expected... I suppose thats just the British way, to feel more pride for what seems to be the 'underdog'....
