  1. I'm all for steps to protect the planet that do not impose net new taxes or involve central (state) planning in any way shape or form.

  2. it is a scam designed to lower your standard of living and grab more of your $$$$.  http://globalwarmingheartland.org

  3. global warming will continue to happen even if our CO2 emmissions were reduced to 0.

  4. Global Warming-------- spend 45 TRILLION dollars--

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080606/ap_o...   if you have this hidden inside your house just turn it over to the UN and everything is OK.

Protecting the environment-- The USA already has NUMEROUS laws on the books protecting the environment-

    http://www.cec.org/pubs_info_resources/l...

Start reading now and call me when you finish!!!

Additionally the USA spends BILLIONS protecting the environment each year-- for example the EPA's budget for 2009 is 7.1 Billion------ and they employ over 17,000 people.

  5. IMAGINATIVELY: I do think we should go green half way NOT all the way because the earth probably needs to release some steam just like any breathing thing. It does it through drilling which is why it is an obsession with us for so long. Though our activities here on earth are our own thinking and initiative, there must be some esoteric reason why the idea came to exist in the first place so stopping it may be a way to discontinue the shifting of the earth's biological clock.

There must be some contact to make it a contact sport. There must be gasoline drilling to rid bio-accumulation.

  6. I think you should consider the evidence before you go "GREEN CRAZY!" Global warming is not effected by humanity! That does not mean I am against being nice to the world, I'm just against manipulating people through lies and half truths.

Let's get cleaner energy, but lets do it because it is better for our health, better for our pocket books and because it is a responsible thing to do.

  7. The last three years in a row have been trending cooler.

Beware anybody that the last year data they use is 2005, they want to hide the fact we are starting to cool.

Once we have 6 years in a row of cooling or 7 out of ten then it's a sure bet we are no longer warming and the sun's sunspot activity is slowing down.

Nothing we did caused it. nothing we could do to stop it.

  8. Sounds good but most of what the greenies want is not at all good for the environment-for example; using corn for fuel and driving up the cost of food and gas. And making windmills to kill rapters is not very green either.

  9. i do. i think we should produce more cars that run on gasoline alternatives like solar power. we should also plant more trees and use less CFCs.

  10. g.w. is a nateral proccess of the world.

    we CANT stop it

scientist tell u to for some $

  11. We should protect the environment in a practical way.  Every organism on earth uses its environment to survive in the best way it knows with the exception of Environmentalists.  It makes me wonder if Environmentalists should be declared an endangered species.  Perhaps national parks should be created in such places as New York City or Berkeley to ensure their survival.

  12. It doesn't matter whether global warming is man made or just a cycle in the earth's history .... it is happening. Between solar processes or natural earth processes such as volcanoes and the ever present forest fires which will be argued to have occurances whether or not mankind were present. It still just doesn't matter how it is happening, it is.

FACT: "Atmospheric levels of CO2 are determined by how much coal, natural gas and oil we burn and how many trees we cut down, as well as by natural processes like plant growth. Atmospheric levels of water vapor, on the other hand, cannot be directly controlled by people; rather, they are determined by temperatures. The warmer the atmosphere, the more water vapor it can hold. As a result, water vapor is part of an amplifying effect. Greenhouse gases like CO2 warm the air, which in turn adds to the stock of water vapor, which in turn traps more heat and accelerates warming."

We have gone past the point of no return unless we can build improvements to assist in reflecting light away from the earth.

First you have to understand how long the earth has been storing up the fossil fuels. The coal, oil and natural gas that we are using now are products of the earth converting plants and animals into their present forms over (often) millions of years. They have been stored now for millions of years without being used until now. By being used now, we are converting these fuels from stored carbon, into released carbon. Thus allowing this released carbon to act as a greenhouse effect gas again.

Since we are talking about a situation where the Earth once had a lot of stored carbon and now that stored carbon is disappearing at a tremendous rate (and will continue into the future) We can be truthful in saying that there is a definite trend, and relationship in the increase of greenhouse gasses. We can also say that these greenhouse gasses would not have been released without the intervention of man. Logically therefore we can say that global warming gasses have been released and any global warming increases are directly attributed to mankind’s releasing them.

The damage done by increased greenhouse emissions has already taken its toll. This is evident by the melting of polar ice and glaciers across the globe. Some will say that there is no such thing as global warming, because there is in their opinion very little change in the average global temperature. However when you take into account the fact that there is less ice, and snow, because of the melting of polar ice and glaciers across the globe. That melted ice, snow and glaciers across the globe will in themselves temporarily lower the overall ocean temperatures untill they all melt. Thereby lowering the average temperatures on the earth. So if you account for that, the temperature can be proven to be increasing.

We cannot get the world back the way it was, even as of fifty years ago, much less stop the damage that will still occur in the future. Sure we could try to stop all industry that will cause pollution, but at what cost. Without industry we could not sustain the present world population. Giving up industry and sacrificing billions of people on this planet in the process, is not a viable solution (even trying to merely lower greenhouse emissions is at best a temporary solution).

The biggest problem we have now is not just the fact that we have more greenhouse gasses trapping heat in, but we are getting less and less sunlight being reflected out from the planet. As the snow cover melts from more and more of the planets surface, the sunlight heats up more parts of the earth that once reflected light back out. It is like a dog chasing its tail (until it gets dizzy and falls from exhaustion). As global warming just keeps building on itself till the ecological balance fails, and this planet will no longer sustain the teeming human populations.

Greenhouse effect cure (there are no real cures but this may help till we can find one). First I want to point out that there are no real, viable short term, or easy methods of curing our Global warming woes. The damage to the environment has already been done and is, for all intent and purposes, basically irreversible. It is likely, however, that any type of plan to get rid of Global warming, will require some type of dramatic ecological compromises.

Some will say that all we need to do is give up industry on the planet and the world will eventually go back to the way it was. I say it is too late for that solution (as a short term solution anyway).

My plan, however, will require the use of old tires and recycled plastics. Of course it will require some engineering feats also, and a few ecological compromises. The benefits of using these wasted products will far outweigh the compromises required.

My idea is to build large floating islands (white on top, to reflect sunlight back out of our planet) made from used tires (filled with co2) and recycled plastics. Yes there are engineering and ecological problems, but everyone has to admit there are worse problems in our current situation. So the only feasible solution is to build a bunch of artificial reflection "islands" across the planet.

We can also try to get more people to use reflecting surfaces on buildings (which will be as difficult to do, as no one likes to have to do things exactly the same as everyone else).

There will be other benefits realized, once we build enough of these islands. One of the problems associated with the increased temperatures we are experiencing is the possibility of increased hurricane intensity and frequency. Having enough of these floating islands in strategic points in the oceans will help to alleviate this problem also. It is a well known fact that hurricanes form in areas of the ocean where the temperature rises above approximately 80 degrees Fahrenheit. If we can keep those areas below that temperature (by reflecting sunlight away), we can prevent the formation of hurricanes. Without these floating islands, hurricanes will probably continue to increase in intensity and frequency…

We need a solution to deal with our Global warming woes, and we need it now. Even if this is a difficult path to follow, it will pay off in the future. The overall problems I see for Greenhouse effect is that we can go green all we want, but Global warming and our constant desire to be comfortable, will eventually undermine any efforts we may do. Unless we can get rid of some of the excess heat in this world, we will always be under the eventual threat of a thermal overheating demise.

  13. yes i VERY much agree with you - right now humans are killing our planet - we need to stop it NOW!!!! we need to stop using coal power plants [which normal people cant do] but what WE can do is: use energy star appliances, only water plants when absolutely needed, use cfl lightbulbs, use fans instead of air conditioning, unplug unneeded electronics, turn computer monitors off when not in use, recycle everything you can, drive as little as possible, drive hybrids, carpool, public transportation, buy recycled products, donate old clothes/toys instead of tossing them - there are sooooo amny things that normal people can do to help the earth

if you are really into it like me you can go to websites like yahoo green and carbon rally - they give you great new ideas to do at home

have fun saving the planet!!!! =]

  14. We should have a world-wide holiday that we have to ride bikes, use no electricity, recycle everything and turn garbage into fertilizer. We would call it Globe Goes Green Day, or G.G.G. Day. I wish we could do this! :D p.s. turn off all the lights in ur house during the day it saves a lot of energy.

  15. well, i dont believe in global warming becasue its all made up, but haveing a healthy environment is good, i guess, but it shouldnt be to stop global warming

  16. We should not listen to Al Gore because his ideas of global warming are a political tactic.

  17. environment in big city suck, but every where else the environment is just fine

  18. The earth's climate changes naturally.  In a gentle way.  It may warm up a little bit or cool a little bit.  Man has nothing to do with it and is powerless to stop it.  It's caused by the sun.

Man-made global warming is a scam, a lie.  It's a political tool developed by devious minds in the leftist community to control how we live.  It's very evil, like it's creators and the junk-scientists who support them and lie to us.

  19. I agree. Although I do understand why people do agree. There are no authoritative studies on the subject published on the internet, but there are plenty of no doubt fossil fuel company lies available.

The problem is that no authoritative journals publish for free on the internet. None. There is no free information on the subject available without access to a large University Library. I do not know how to resolve that problem.

  20. In general I am for going clean and help environment. But stop that GW scam please.

  21. I think that we need to start saving the environment. If we don't do something now, our great grandchildren will be living in a dump!

    GO GREEN!

  22. Global Warming is getting worse every year and we are making it that way.If we don't stop to help the Earth, soon there will be no such thing as Earth and no humans. If we don't  help Earth we are making it closer to the day of our death. Everyone wants a peaceful death, but many people are going to die a painful death because of this cause. There are so many ways to prevent this. RECYCLE, SAVE WATER, and much more.GO GREEN!SAVE our EARTH!

  23. ell first of all global warming or global climate change, is a completely natural cycle that the earth relatively goes through. For example the Sahara Dessert used to be a vast with lush vegetation. Also the greenhouse effect is completely natural and is much needed, for it keeps the earth in a stable state and it protects us from the extremes of space. So what is all the fuss about? Here it is, about a century ago humans discovered a widely available fuel source that was far superior to anything we have ever used before and it was extremely profitable and cheap. This began the modern industrial age! All of sudden humans began to spew out mass amounts of greenhouse gases at an unprecedented rate, much faster than the earth could cleanse itself of them, during one of those natural warming periods that skeptics and deniers are always referring to. As time went on the quantity of greenhouse gases only continued to increase, sharply. This happens because greenhouse gases do not easily irradiate out of our atmosphere but instead they linger (we are still breathing the emissions first emitted by the first Model T’s) and in turn those gases trap more heat and radiation emitted by the sun raising the earth’s temperature. So why is that such a problem if the earth’s temperature goes up by a few degrees? Well the earth’s climate systems are very fragile so that the slightest change could alter the climate zone and weather systems. Therefore we ARE having an effect on the climate accelerating all of the natural causes of global climate change (i.e. global warming) which isn’t a good thing for obvious reasons. To discover these reasons turn on your TV. or get online and pay attention to what is going on over the entire world! Also don’t listen to people who say “there’s no possible way we can have an effect on the environment”, because they are completely wrong. For example temperatures in urban areas are generally higher and oh yeah WE HAVE A HIGHLY ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY BASED SOCIETY!! And how did we get here? Threw altering or changing the environment in which we live to suit our needs! So please stop giving that crock of bull about we can’t change our environment you just sound stupid. Also we have the technology (stock-shelved), the money, and the know-how to effectively reduce the progression of global warming to its natural pace. By going green we would also save trillions of dollars, lives, help restore our international standings, secure our international standings in the future, stop supplying our “enemies” and save our only home!

To find out how go to climatecrisis.org , think.mtv.com , and an array of other informative sites that allow you to get the facts, here from the scientist, calculate your carbon footprint, and find out cheap, easy, yet effective ways to reduce your use and your carbon footprint! So get to it!
