It was a Rockies minor league coach.

Mike Coolbaugh was his name, and he was a coach for the Rockies' Double-A affiliate, the Tulsa Drillers, and it was hit by a catcher named Tino Sanchez.  He retired at the end of the season, saying he was emotionally affected by the incident and had to let it go.
