All time: Barry Bonds (762) is questionable for steroids but was never tested positive, so for now I'd say that Hank Aaron (755) is the all-time home run leader until we know for sure if Bonds is on steroids or not.

Season: Once again it's Bonds (73 in 2001), but (as mentioned above) he might be on 'roids. So besides him it's Mark McGwire (70 in 1998), but he was on 'roids, too. So excluding everybody questionable for 'roids, it was Roger Maris (61 in 1961).
